Teacher, Lord, Holy Spirit
Matthew 26:20-26, Acts 2:37-41
2005. 5. 15 Teacher's Day Sunday morning
Today is Pentecost Sunday. We usually think of Christmas and Easter as the most important holidays in Christianity, but the most important holiday is Pentecost, the day of Pentecost. It is the Holy Spirit who made us believe in the risen Lord, and the church was established through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
What does the Holy Spirit do? The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ. to believe in Jesus as the Christ. Being filled with Christ is the source of energy. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, makes you feel the love of the cross of Christ. The Holy Spirit will also give you the gifts you need for the work of God when you pray. It will open up all your possibilities.
At the same time, today is also the 24th Teacher's Day. On this day, I visit and give gifts while thinking of the teachers who have had the greatest influence on my life journey. We should do our duty to the master with the heart of a disciple. Teacher's Day started in 1963 when the Central Student Council of the Youth Red Cross designated May 26 as Teacher's Day, and in 1965, it was changed to May 15, the birthday of King Sejong the Great. In 1973, the government incorporated Teacher's Day into the National Education Charter Proclamation Day (12.5) and abolished it, but it was revived on May 15, 1982, and counted as the first since then. How wonderful it would be to know and appreciate the teacher's grace, and to grow into a better person according to the teacher's teaching. No, even in the Bible, Galatians 6:6 says, "Those who are being taught should share all good things with those who teach the word."
However, it is a pity that the old tradition of respecting teachers to the point of being called one military unit is disappearing. Teachers, who are the main characters, are depressed on Teacher's Day. Teachers had to send a disgraceful letter to their parents this year, saying, 'They don't take the village.' That's why teachers are complaining about abolishing Teacher's Day, which is a sinner.
Every year in May, opinion polls related to rural areas are always released, and the police and the media pour out corruption related to teachers. Last week, an elementary school principal embezzled school meals and a large amount of money was raised. Teachers are severely judged because they require a unique sense of ethics. The fact that the Korean Federation of Teachers' Associations declared the 'Charter of Ethics for Teachers', a declaration of self-cleaning movement, at a ceremony to celebrate Teacher's Day yesterday also lowers the morale of teachers. However, there is also a tendency for good teachers to be sold as wholesale money because of some ignorant people. Of course, among the 400,000 teachers, there are bound to be some unqualified people.
With the collapse of public education, the authority of teachers has also fallen, but Sado is alive and should be respected. The sacrifice of the teachers who embraced and protected about 20 disabled students until they broke their limbs in a bus rolling down a hill last month is touching. A young teacher in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, says that he bakes bungeoppang by himself every Monday for his students who study at night.
In the Bible, Jesus also heard the titles of rabbi or teacher countless times. That's right. Jesus is the most authoritative rabbi and teacher. Even the Pharisees and lawyers admired his teaching. You are the One who gave direction, Jesus Christ, who led all mankind to eternal life. The teacher is the one who has all the answers, and Jesus is the one who has all the answers. Your teaching should not be confined to your lips but should be reflected in your entire life, but Jesus is a good teacher who sacrifices his own life.
In today's text, the disciple Judas Iscariot sold Jesus to Roman soldiers for thirty pieces of silver. Interestingly, Judas never confessed that Jesus was 'Lord'. I always called 'Rabbi!' (Text verses 25, 49) In John 14:22, "Judas, who is not Iscariot, said, "Lord, why do you want to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?" I'm sorry, but it's Judas, not Iscariot. has always been the opposition and has been critical, negative, and skeptical. Judging from John 12:4-5, Judas' thoughts on the case of perfumed oil, it seems that he is very healthy and has a lot of interest in the poor. But it was against the mind of Jesus.
In contrast, Peter always confessed that Jesus was Lord.
In particular, in Matthew 16:16, which is famous for Peter's confession of faith, he clearly confesses, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Even in the same Bible as today's text, verse 33 says, "Even if everyone forsakes you, I will never forsake you." In verse 35, he emphasized that he would not deny himself again, "Even if I die with you, I will not deny you." Nevertheless, in verses 69-75, he denied the Lord three times.
The problem is after sinning. Judas Iscariot was overcome with guilt and committed suicide by hanging himself. (Matthew 27:3-5) Suicide is an act of giving up the opportunity of recovery and repentance and forgiveness. It seems very righteous, but it is a great pride in the sight of God and an unforgivable sin. But as soon as the rooster crowed, Peter went outside and wept (26:75). And according to legend, after Jesus' crucifixion, he escaped from Rome and met the resurrected Lord, "Lord, where are you going?" (Quvadis Domine) - After hearing the words, "I am going to Rome, where you are going," I repented and received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. It is said that he became a new person, a new disciple and evangelist, and was martyred by carrying the cross upside down.
To call Jesus a teacher is human. However, it is the work of the Holy Spirit that can be confessed as Lord. Therefore, being able to call on and pray, Lord, is evidence that you have already received the Holy Spirit. However, for those who have not yet received the Holy Spirit, it is difficult to believe in Jesus, difficult to pray, and the life of faith itself can be a heavy burden.
When we read the book of Acts, we receive the Holy Spirit
I. testified of Jesus.
It is called Peter's sermon, but the words introduced here testify of Jesus.
Acts 1:8 He said, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." 2:36 "God has made Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." The crowd thought Jesus was a heretic, saying that Jesus was the son of a carpenter of Nazareth, and he was politically agitated. Although he was crucified, Jesus testifies that he is actually God, the Son of God who died and rose again.
The Apostle Paul quotes the Bible as proof of that, "God has made Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
First, the coming of the Holy Spirit was prophesied in the words of Joel 2:28-32 (Acts 2:16-21).
Second, in the words of Psalm 16:8-11, we testified of the resurrection of Jesus (Acts 2:25-28).
Third, in the words of Psalm 110:1, it testified that Jesus is the King who rules over all things (Acts 2:33-35).
Peter's testimony moved tens of thousands of people, and as many as 3,000 people decided to believe in Jesus.
So, what should a person who has received the Holy Spirit do? It is to spread the gospel. Evangelism is not something that we force ourselves to do, but something that people who have received the Holy Spirit do it naturally.
II. The work of repentance took place (Acts 2:38).
Those who heard Peter's powerful sermons, "pierced to the heart," began to be pierced. The saints must be stabbed when they hear the word How many people hear the word but do not respond at all?
"What should I do?"
This is the reaction of people who have been stabbed in the heart. People have a self-defense instinct. When they say something stabbed, they usually hide it, deny it and try to hide it. And there are many people who misunderstand that if they stab their heart, they only talk about themselves.
But what about these people? What shall we do, brothers? You are asking how to solve the problem.
People who hide and hide problems can do it temporarily, but it doesn't take long for them to become visible. It has to be addressed right away.
"Repent ye"
The apostles testify to repent of the solution to the problem. The starting point of problem solving begins with repentance. Whenever you hear the Word and your heart is pierced, I hope that the work of repentance will happen immediately. It is a characteristic of those who have received the Holy Spirit.
Israel declared a fast and offered a prayer of repentance when difficulties arose, both nationally and personally. Each time, God solved the problem.
"Receive forgiveness of sins"
The problem was sin. Sin must be dealt with. The obstacles to receiving the Holy Spirit and living a life filled with the Holy Spirit are sins. God hates sin the most. When we repent, God forgives our sins.
?? The Holy Spirit is a gift.
Everyone loves receiving gifts. Depending on the content of the gift, the joy will be different. The more valuable and valuable it is, the more impressed it is.
