Title: Temptation and Obedience/Genesis 22:1-24

Contents This week's hymn: 350 Chapters Evangelism May 11, 1995 Text: Genesis 22:1-24

Title: Test and Obedience 25.HWP

The text says that God called Abraham to test him. But James says that God is evil.

He said that He is not tempted by them, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

(James 1:13) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted by God, for God cannot be tempted by drugs, and He Himself tests no one.

There are two exams. Test - God's test - to measure the level of faith of the saints

It is to strengthen the saints through faith and to give them blessings.

Temption - Satan's temptation - as a temptation to tempt believers

They sow the seeds of pride, greed, fornication, and lies in the hearts of the saints to make them sin and to overthrow.

(2 Peter 2:18) They utter false boastful words, and seduce those who have barely escaped from those who practice in deceit, in the lusts of the flesh by sexual immorality.

1. Thorough obedience and dedication

Abraham absolutely obeyed God's command.

This was not only a form of obedience, but a complete devotion.

Abraham had already cut off all of the past, and here he had to cut off all of the future as well.

1) Obedience without delay (3-4)- You can see the appearance of obedience without excuses and without delay to Abraham who was preparing to leave “was up early in the morning”. Faith is obedience.

2) Abraham obeyed by faith (5)

The fact that Abraham made the two servants accompanying him wait for him to see the mother of true obedience without pretentiousness. Even when he bound Isaac and took up the sword, he believed that God was able to save him. (Hebrews 11:17-19) When Abraham was being tested, he offered Isaac by faith. He was the one who received the promise, but he gave his only begotten son. For he had already said to them, "Those who will be called your descendants will be by this stone." But he thought that God was able to raise him from the dead, so figuratively he received it back from the dead.

3) Isaac's amazing silence and obedience (6-10)- Isaac was already a young man.

When asked, ‘Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?’, when he heard the answer ‘God will provide it’, he did not say any more, and although he was bound, he did not resist the tip of Abraham’s sword and remained silent and obedient. What amazing obedience is this?

2. Consequences of Obedience

1) He received God's approval. (11-12)- The faith of the saints is the same as the degree of faith when faced with difficult situations.

The character is clearly shown.

Are we really obedient to receive God's approval under any circumstance?

2) God's preparation was revealed. (13-14)

3) I gained new confidence through blessings (15-16).

This is the blessing that God has already promised in 13:14-18.

The obedient person experiences the immutability of God's promises as he accumulates new blessings.

(Hebrews 6:16-18) People swear by one greater than themselves, and the oath is supreme in all their strife. (Hebrews 6:18) This is so that we, who are fleeing for the hope that lie ahead, may be greatly comforted by these two unchangeable facts, in which God cannot lie
