Sermons for Preaching

Contents , Text: Psalm 71:1~24

opening story

First, God, do not forsake me!

“Do not forsake me when I am old, and do not leave me when I am weak” (verse 9). “O God, do not forsake me, even when I am old and alone, and do not forsake me until I pass on your strength to the next generation and your power to all people to come” (verse 18). The psalmist told us not to throw it away when we were old, when we were weak, or when we were old and left alone. People often feel abandoned when they are sick, when their business fails, when they are weak, or when they are not welcomed by others. What is God's answer? “I will not leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5).

“For the LORD loves justice, and has not forsaken his saints” (Psalm 37:28). Rest assured. God does not forsake us. But sometimes we just forsake God and live.

Second, God, be my refuge!

“In You, O LORD, I take refuge… ” (v. 1). “Be a rock where I can take refuge in my ignorance” (verse 3). “I am a strange thing to them, but you are my strong refuge” (verse 7). I stopped eating and drinking and prayed. David, who can be seen in Psalm 119, overcame his fear by meditating on the Word. It is normal for the saints to take refuge in God. Do not think that it is strange that something to be avoided from God happens. The problem is that there is no escape from God The real difficult problem is that they want to avoid the face of God After the sin Adam and Eve flee from God The prodigal son wants to sin, so he moves to a far country to avoid the interference of his father This is unfortunate. It is the blessing of the saints to flee from God. Blessed are those who take refuge in God even if there is no problem.

Third, we want to praise the Lord.

“I will always hope, and more and more will praise thee” (verse 14). “I will praise you with your harp, my God; I will praise you for your faithfulness” (verses 22-23). The psalmist had a will to praise. Is there an unstoppable will within me? God is not deceived by saying that he will live for his glory only with his lips. He truly blesses those who will live for the glory of God. There were two critically ill patients. One person was seriously injured in an accident while committing a robbery or rape, and was hospitalized, and his life was in jeopardy. The other, living like a good Samaritan helping a neighbor in need, was hospitalized in an unexpected accident. If you had only one organ, who would you transplant it to? Would you like to transplant organs into robbers to keep sinning and hurt your neighbors? Would you transplant a good Samaritan with an organ so he can continue to care for your neighbor? God sees through our intentions and will. You must have a clear will to live for God.
