Title: Thank God for My Amazing Food

Thank God for the amazing food

Text/ Psalm 104:1-35

1. Introduction

Today, on the third Sunday of November (November 15th), on Thanksgiving Sunday, which is traditionally observed by our church, we would like to share the grace by meditating on the Word under the theme of “Give thanks to God for the amazing food.”

2. The God Who Gives Wine, Oil, and Food

As mentioned in “The Mystery of Forty Days - Forty Years - Four Hundred Years” in the Fountain of the Word No. 567, the words “wine, oil, and food” are also used as secret idioms in the Bible.

*God bless you with the dew of heaven and the fatness of the earth, with an abundance of grain and wine (Genesis 27:28).

*They gave you the best of the firstfruits of the LORD, the best oil, the best wine, and the best grain (Numbers 18:12).

* He loves you and blesses you, so that your land will prosper in its produce, in grain, in wine and in oil (Deuteronomy 7:13).

*The LORD your God will send the early and the latter rain on your land at the proper time, and you will obtain grain, wine, and oil (Deuteronomy 11:14).

*They shall come and sing praises on the heights of Zion, and gather together in the gift of the LORD, in the grain and the new wine and the oil and the flocks of the lambs and the herds (Jeremiah 31:12)

* He has given wine to rejoice in the heart, oil to rejuvenate the face, and bread to strengthen the heart (Psalm 104:15).

*The Lord gives food to the hungry (Psalm 146:7) *Give thanks to him who gives food to all flesh (Psalm 136:25)

* Go, eat your food with a joyful heart, and drink your wine with a joyful heart (Ecclesiastes 8:7).

*The Lord answered them and said, I will give you grain, new wine and oil, and you will be satisfied with them (Joel 2:19).

* Throughout the Old Testament (the Pentateuch - the history books - the prophets - the wisdom books, etc.), wine, oil, and grain are described as God's blessings to man. The following verses are examples of this. Deuteronomy 12:17, 14:23, 18:4, 28:51, 32:14, 2 Chronicles 31:5, 32:28, Neh 10:38, 13:5, 13:12, Hosea 2:8, 2: 22, 3:8, Isaiah 25:6, Joel 2:24, Hag 1:11, etc.

*In the New Testament, our Lord Jesus, the only Son of God, in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:25-34), commanded us to overcome the blessings of the earth, such as wine, oil, and grain, and seek the blessings of heaven beyond the Old Testament. In other words, look at the birds of the air, look at the lilies of the field, how much more are you? Heavenly Father already knows that you need wine-oil-grain. Therefore seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things (wine-oil-grain) will be added to you.

3. Give thanks to God for giving you amazing food

first. It is a solemn and solemn thing for one person - one family - one business - one organization to survive in this harsh world. It is entirely by the grace of God that we survived this way. But the wicked say that I ate and survived by my power and the strength of my hands. It's a mistake and it's arrogant. Sooner or later there will be no dwelling place for the wicked. Even if we look closely, we can find no trace of the dwelling place of the wicked (Psalm 37:10). Therefore, we believers eat wine that pleases the heart, oil that refreshes the face, and bread that strengthens the heart, and that we are alive, God has given us the ability to obtain them. We cannot help but confess that it is because of this and give thanks (Deut 8:17-18).

On Thanksgiving Day, quietly meditate on what you have been through and count the blessings you have received. Because of my sins, faults, mistakes, foolishness, and laziness, all kinds of physical, mental, and economic calamities, tribulation, and crises, which were about to happen due to my strong arms and outstretched arms, with great majesty, miracles, and wonders, I miraculously led them to a safe place. I can't help but be thankful to God who made me live. No, is it?

second. On Thanksgiving Day, we need to take care of our underprivileged neighbors. After offering the thanksgiving sacrifice, Moses instructed the Levites, strangers, orphans, and widows to look after them and be satisfied (Deut 26:12-15). In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31), Jesus sternly taught that caring for the poor is the mission of the blessed.

The Old Sacred King 制爲飮Food Law 足以充虛繼 强股肱耳目聰明 卽止 (The Old Singer King Lee Mok-Jin-Myeong-Jung-Ji: It fills the stomach to keep the energy alive, strengthens the arms and legs, and stops the eyes and ears as brightly as they can see and hear)

In other words, it means to use the bountiful harvest to help neighbors by living modestly, modestly, and frugally.

third. I've seen an article called "How too Much, How too hungry" in Newsweek before. The point is that the crops our world produces are so plentiful enough to feed all of humanity, yet so many people are starving. It doesn't even have to look around the world. Such is the reality of the two Koreas that are happening right before our eyes. In South Korea, rice is plentiful, and farmers are demonstrating and rotting rice, while North Koreans are starving.

We believers should overcome the structural contradictions and ideological conflicts of our society, and at least make an effort so that none of our compatriots in North and South Korea go hungry.
