Title: Thank God for My Amazingly Created Me
Thank God for making me amazingly amazing
Text/ Psalm 139:1-18
1. Introduction
2. The triple structure of Psalm 138:1-18 (Psalm 138:1-12, 13-16, 17-18)
*<Psalm 139:1-12>- The relationship between God and me is inseparable, like the relationship between water and fish, thread and needle, light and shadow, two sides of a coin, and between a shepherd and a sheep. God knows my thoughts, actions, and words very well (verses 1-6) even while I swallow my saliva, He does not let go and watches over me (Job 7:19). Where can I go from Your Spirit and where can I flee from Your presence? Even if I hide in the end of the sky the end of the earth the end of the sea in darkness without a single ray of light deep in the mountains, I cannot escape the face of God (verses 7-12). The prophet Amos describes this in a negative way (Amos 9:1-4).
*<Psalm 139:13-16> - Here the psalmist is saying something amazing. I give thanks to You, for Your creation is marvelous, My soul is well aware of the marvels of Your works. When I was wrought in secret, and Wonderful in the depths of the earth, My form was not hidden from You. Your eyes saw it before it was formed, and all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one day came. In other words, I am a mysteriously created being. I am not from my parents, but from God. Because before I was organized in my parents' womb, before my form was formed, thy eyes saw me, and the plans that God had for me were all written down in thy book before they even began (Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (v. 16).
*<Psalm 139:17-18> - O God! How precious are your thoughts to me!
3. Give thanks to God who made me wonderfully
first. I can't help but be thankful to God who made my body so amazingly amazing. Traditional Chinese Medicine - Yang's anatomists - doctors of various diseases - brain doctors - psychiatrists confess that the human body is indescribably mysterious the more it is studied (in this field, expert help should be cited).
Today, we modern people overwork our bodies too much. If I take care of my body with a little care, I can live a healthy life, but because I am busy-lazy-insensitive, I am suffering from various diseases. It's really not going to happen. If I am grateful for my body God has created for me and am careful at least on a commonsense level, I can live a healthy life (it is my fault for not being careful about my broken ribs).
second. The writer of Psalm 139 gives us a wonderful, very-very surprising insight here. That is, each person is not born with a body from their physical parents, but is created and born directly from God. That is, before I was organized in my mother's womb, before my form was formed, I was marvelously created in secret in the depths of the earth (Psalm 139:14-16). The psalmist called this 言語道斷 (Language Dodan: The place where the way of speech is cut off, which cannot be clearly explained with words), so it is called Shinmyomak side.
And he said that God has a clear plan for each person who was created like that. *How precious are your thoughts to me, O God! How many are they! When I try to count them, they are more than the sand. Even when I awake, I am with you. (Psalm 139:17-18) This is God, and he does this for the sake of his good pleasure; in everything he does, let there be no grumbling or quarreling (Philippians 2:13-14). Lord, thank you. Hallelujah!
Note: Eastern philosophy also asks “父母未生前本來眞面目”. In other words, where-what-what-what was I like before my parents gave birth to me? What is my true face? I ask and I am sorry.
