Sermons for Preaching

Title: Thanks for the phone call

“Everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving” (1 Timothy 4:4).

When we think of the Lord who endured the suffering of the cross for us, whether we are poor or rich, or even in suffering, and give thanks to God, we will turn into anger and lead to blessings. The prophet Habakkuk said, “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, and I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. will rejoice over you” (Hab 3:17-18). We can be thankful in any situation just for the fact that a sinner like me is saved. This is a condition of gratitude that will never change.

“The afflictions of the righteous are many, but the Lord delivers them from them all” (Psalm 34:19).

The Talmud says: "Even in the worst circumstances, people should not lose hope. You have to believe that there can be ups and downs."

That's right. Despair is not a word of luck. Before everything is over, we should hope for anything.

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good and his lovingkindness endures forever” (Psalm 107:1).

There are not many people in the Bible who have lived a life as colorful as Joseph in the text. His father's favoritism led to his brothers' conspiracy. However, with the help of Judah, he was sold to Egypt. He lives as a servant in Potiphar's house and begins his life abroad. People need to be recognized for where they are. We often snoop around that what we are doing is insignificant. But Joseph did his best where he was not blaming the place or circumstances.

Potiphar's wife had Joseph in her heart. When his will fails, he is framed and sent to prison. It was in that prison that he met Pharaoh's servants, which gave him the opportunity to meet Pharaoh. How can insignificant human beings measure the will of God? Looking at the incident, Joseph's life was all about disaster (disaster). Difficulties such as being sold by blood, being a slave at a body shop, and living in an unfair prison continued to come. But if it were not for Salem, we would not have been able to go to Egypt, and if we did not go to prison, we would not have met Pharaoh's servants, and could we have interpreted Pharaoh's dream?

Jacob and his brothers come down to Egypt and are terrified of retaliation by Jacob's death. To those who were afraid, Joseph states, "You tried to harm me, but God changed it for good, so that as it is today, the lives of many people are saved" (Genesis 50:20). “All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). God turns anger into blessing.

* Prayer: Loving and holy Father God! We lived with so much complaining. We do not give thanks for what we currently have, hope for what we do not have, and repent of our sins of murmuring, complaining, and lamenting. Help us not to complain about what we have lost, but to be thankful for what we have to give. Help us not to complain about what we don't have, but to be more grateful for what we have. Not only roses but also thorns
