Thanksgiving of Jesus (Matthew 11:25-26)
□ When did Jesus give thanks?
Our reading today is when and why Jesus? It also shows us how to live a life of gratitude.
“At that time, Jesus answered and said, “Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I give thanks.”
When did Jesus give thanks? Jesus thanked Heavenly Father “at that time.” So, when does “at that time” refer to here? The time mentioned here refers to the time when Jesus declared judgment against Korah, Bethsaida, and Capernaum, who performed the most power and miracles.
In verses 20 to 24, to those who rejected Jesus and did not acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah, despite showing more power and miracles with more affection and concern than any other village, Jesus You have declared judgment.
Even though it was the place where he performed the most miracles and the place where he paid the most attention, how would the Lord feel when they rejected him without acknowledging him as the Messiah? He must have been very complicated, depressed and distressed. No, I must have been very sad and very heartbroken.
But even in these circumstances, the Lord offered a prayer of thanks to Heavenly Father. In such a gloomy situation, in such a situation of rejection, he prayed a prayer of thanks to Heavenly Father.
Like the lyrics of the gospel hymn, “in a situation of being abandoned and neglected like a trampled rose,” he said a prayer of thanks to God the Father.
This was the thanksgiving of Jesus.
Even when Jesus felt frustrated, complicated, and depressed, he prayed to Heavenly Father to give thanks. This is true gratitude.
Gentlemen, true gratitude is giving thanks even when what I hoped for did not come true.
Thank you for giving me thanks even when my heart is stuffy and complicated. Thank you for giving even in the storms of life. Giving thanks in the midst of the pain and suffering of disease is inevitably true thanks.
□ To whom did Jesus give thanks?
“Father, Lord of heaven and earth”
Jesus offered a prayer of thanks to the Father, the Lord of heaven and earth.
The object of thanks was God the Father.
The phrase “He is the Lord of heaven and earth” means that He is the Creator and ruler of heaven and earth. That's right. We believe that our God not only creates the heavens and the earth, but also controls the heavens and the earth.
He is the only one in charge of all order and operation in this world. He is the one who advocates for human life and death. He is the source of all wealth and power in the world. (1 Chronicles 29:12)
But God, who is such a great and source of blessings, and the Lord of heaven and earth, have become my and your father.
According to the Bible, no one could call God, the Lord of heaven and earth, Father. Only the Son of God, Jesus Christ, could call God Father.
But God has given the right to become children of God to those who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. Not only legally, but also by pouring out the spirit of adoption, so that God can be called Father, Father. (Romans 8:14-15)
How heartbreaking it is that the one who is the master of heaven and earth and who advocates for human life and death has become my and your father.
Even if my father becomes the president of a company, even if he is only in a high-ranking office, his shoulders are strained.
Thank God for being my father and being my father. And be thankful that I can go before my Heavenly Father and get the parts I need. Heavenly Father is the one who answers our requests with the best things (Matthew 7:11).
Dear all!
Even in difficult times, Jesus offered a prayer of thanks to Heavenly Father, the Lord of heaven and earth. Our Jesus was clearly the object of thanksgiving.
That's right. Please believe that our God alone is worthy to be worshiped and the only one worthy to receive our thanks.
□ What was Jesus grateful for?
Then, for what reason did Jesus give thanks to Heavenly Father? What did Jesus give thanks to the Father?
“I give thanks for hiding these things from the wise and prudent, but revealing them to little children” (verse 25).
What Jesus said is the gospel of the kingdom.
It speaks of the blessing of salvation soon. And the wise and prudent people refer to those who, after seeing the miracles and powers of Jesus, did not receive him based on their traditions, reason, and learning.
And little children are those who know that they are sinners and acknowledge and accept Jesus as the Messiah.
Therefore, the little children Jesus was talking about are the opposite of the wise and discreet people mentioned earlier.
The little child Jesus spoke of refers to those who thoroughly acknowledge their weaknesses, acknowledge their sinfulness, realize that they cannot be saved by their own strength, and believe in Jesus as their Savior.
But in verse 26, Jesus says that this is the Father's will that the gospel of the kingdom is hidden from the wise and prudent and revealed to little children. What is Heavenly Father's will?
Heavenly Father's will is not for the wise and prudent people to hear the gospel and become the people of the kingdom of heaven, but for those who are like children to hear the gospel of the kingdom and become the saved people. This is the will of our Heavenly Father.
Then, today, this is the will of Heavenly Father that you and I will live as the people of the kingdom of heaven by believing and accepting Jesus as our Savior.
Heavenly Father's holy will has already been done in you and me now. Therefore, we should live in gratitude for the fact that God's holy will has been done in us today.
Even if life is difficult and difficult, I hope that I can live with gratitude for the fact that I believe in Jesus and become a child of God.
□ Try to be grateful
Gratitude is a great driving force that drives out the devil, removes the darkness of our lives, and illuminates the sunlight. Gratitude is the channel that brings God into our lives.
Gratitude turns a life of defeat into a life of victory.
So, try to be grateful. Why am I like this? Instead of blaming fate and complaining, try to be grateful even in difficult circumstances and situations.
Even if the environment is difficult and the pain of human relationships continues, give thanks to God for being my father. Give thanks for being saved.
Darkness recedes when we begin to be grateful. Your thoughts determine gratitude and complaints. If you think and think about any difficult situation, you can discover the conditions of gratitude that you have no choice but to be grateful for.
A person who lives with gratitude for today is a happy person. try auditing.
Because when you are grateful, there are more conditions to be grateful for.
In the name of the Lord, I earnestly bless you that you can be grateful for the little things and that you can live with the happiness that God gives you every day.
