Title: That Heaven, Earth, Acts 1:6-11
Today's verse records what happened when Jesus ascended into heaven after his resurrection. The scene is recorded of Jesus speaking to the disciples and the disciples looking at the ascension of Jesus, who became the teacher. This tells us that we also have work to do for the world. It's not just about looking at the sky, it's that we have a lot of work to do right here.
In today's verse, the verb 'to see' is used five times. This is to say with certainty that you have seen it. The ascension of Jesus is a historical fact and it means that the disciples will play the role of witnesses. They testify that the resurrection and ascension of Jesus are events of faith that we must accept.
Based on the news of the resurrection and ascension delivered by the disciples, many people have come to believe in Jesus as the Son of God. He lives with us today and is our guide. It is important, however, that when he ascends into heaven, it is important for his disciples to care about the things of the distant end or the things of heaven, but it tells us that there is much to do on this earth in which we live. This is to be a witness to these facts and truths to the ends of the earth.
That's right! We must not forget what we have to do in this world. Just as rain falls from the sky and flows sideways and rises again, so God's grace should fall among us and spread among us, and we should give thanks to God. It is believed that this life is our job. Isn't that the meaning of the cross? We should not forget also about the horizontally laid ribs of the cross.
The older a person gets, the more interested he becomes in that sky. On the other hand, the younger we are, the more we are interested in the world we live in. The two will have to balance each other, but it's not that easy. It can be said that the more people interested in that heavenly transcendental and eschatological thing, the more evidence that the church is getting older. On the other hand, the better the equilibrium is achieved, the younger the church will be.
We are entering the middle of April. God revives all things and makes them beautiful. We too will have to have more and more reviving soul lives. You must lead a youthful life of faith. This is the mission given to us.
