1. One of Jesus' 12 Apostles
Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector, James the son of Alphaeus and Thaddeus (Matthew 10:3; Mark 3:18; Luke 6:14).
2. A man from Bethsaida with Andrew and Peter
Philip was from Bethsaida, a town with Andrew and Peter (John 1:44).
3. Appears to be a disciple of John the Baptist at first
The next day, as Jesus was about to go out to Galilee, he met Philip and said to him, “Follow me” (John 1:43).
4.Bring his friend Nathanael to Jesus
Philip found Nathanael and said, "We have found the one whom Moses wrote in the law, and the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph" (John 1:45).
5. Jesus tested the five fish before performing the miracle
Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw a great crowd coming to him, and said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these people may eat?" He said this to put Philip to the test, knowing what he was going to do. Two hundred denarii would not be enough for them to give them little by little (John 6:5-7).
6. Introduced Greeks to Jesus
There were some Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast, and they went to Philip the Bethsaida in Galilee and asked him, "Teacher, we want to see Jesus." Philip went and spoke to Andrew, and Andrew and Philip went to Jesus and said, :20-22).
7. Rebuked by Jesus for asking to show God
Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough.” Jesus said to him, “Philip, I have been with you for so long, and you do not know me? He who has seen me has seen the Father; why do you say, Show us the Father? I am in the Father. Do you not believe that the Father is in me? The words I tell you do not speak on your own, but the Father is in me and is doing his work. Believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Believe in me (John 14:8-11).

They went in, and their children went up to the upper chamber, where Peter, John, James, Andrew and Philip, Thomas and Bartholomew, Matthew, and James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zelotite, and Judas the son of James were all there... There were one hundred and twenty. Then Peter stood up among his brothers and said, (Acts 1:13,15).
