Title: The Authority of Doomsday Prophecy
Revelation 22:6-21 '... 18. I testify to all who hear the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll. If anyone takes away from the words of the prophecy of this scroll, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are written in this scroll.
20. The one who testified of these said, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen, come, Lord Jesus. 21. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen’- Amen.
1. The Revealer is God
The application of the prophecies of Revelation is toward the end of the world, and when the end of the earth is reached, as prophesied in Dan 12:4, 'Many people will come and go quickly, and knowledge will increase' It seems to have emphasized the absolute authority of the revelation of the Bible, which is God's revelation.
In verse 8, he once again made the mistake of falling down to worship at the angel's feet (19:10). As a human being, when awe rises, a certain religious spirit of worship is exercised (Acts 10:25). However, the only object of worship is the God who gave revelation, and cannot be a revelation messenger or an angel (Matthew 4:10).
2. This revelation must be made known
In the history of Christian missions, the content of the message was salvation and judgment. In conveying the message of judgment, only the general information about the end was delivered through the Gospels or epistles rather than this book, and the more specific contents of this book are difficult to interpret, so many leaders are mistaken for humility to avoid or not know the study. I did. Moreover, there are many cases where heretics are tested and misunderstood themselves as prophets of the last days. But for that reason, I had to try to understand it properly, understand it well, and give evidence.
Revelation 22:10 “And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, for the time is near.”
Because the Old Testament still gives evidence of the message of the end times, Dan 12:4 “Keep these words, Daniel, and seal these words, until the time of the end, for many will come and go quickly, and knowledge will increase.”
Now, since the time is the last days, this word must be preached. Because it is the word that makes blessings and judgments appear as they are. Of course, all the Bibles have the authority to make such judgments, but since this book is the word that discerns the history of the end times, I think it will have a lot of power to help those who hear it to discern between sin and righteousness and lead to repentance.
Revelation 22:11 “Let the one who practices unrighteousness continue to practice unrighteousness, and the one who is unclean continues to be defiled, and the one who is righteous still practices righteousness, and the one who is holy continues to be sanctified.”
In verse 14, those who wash the tea robes refer to the clothes of faith, repenting in their hearts, and repenting while hearing this revelation in the last days. Verse 15 lists those who are not allowed to enter the city, which are dogs: Gentiles, spiritually unclean unbelievers, fortune tellers, fornicators, murderers, idolaters, and casualties who have made up words that are out of the truth. We invite you to repent of all these sins and receive the free water of life in verse 17.
3. Punishment of those who add or subtract revelation
All the contents of the Bible are revealed by the absolute authority of God. Liberal theology says that the Bible has been manipulated by man, but the Bible is a book that came out of God's will and was inspired by the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 1:21 “For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”
In the midst of this, the book of Revelation puts a very strong emphasis at the end of the book, perhaps because of the insight and pride of those living in the end times.
Revelation 22:18-19 ‘18. I testify to all who hear the words of the prophecy of this scroll, that if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues written in this scroll. 19 If anyone takes away from the words of the prophecy of this scroll, God will take away your participation in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are written in this scroll.”
Surprisingly, there are many people who make up words that do not exist in the book of Revelation and interpret them or remove the words that exist in the book of Revelation. Some content is feared and avoided, while others are artificially interpreted to add missing words to the text. This manipulation is extremely careful because it has to do with salvation later.
In the heart of those who hear the book of Revelation, like the waiting words in verse 20, there must be a spirit of waiting, saying, Amen, come Lord Jesus (maranatha). Eight times in this book, it is said that he is coming soon. Two thousand years have already passed since I heard the word that He was coming soon. This Word is not the world's notion of time, but the time of faith. This is because a person of true faith has a notion of God's time and wakes up spiritually with tension as if he is about to come while hearing this prophecy of the end times. As the saints waiting for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus, I bless you and me who hope to enter the New Jerusalem, which is recorded in this book.
