The basic posture of a racer/Hebrews 12:1-3
The first thing to be thrown away is to be resolutely thrown away.
In today's text, we are told to cast off all heavy things. Even if it is not a sin, the obstacle that hinders the race of faith is to cut it off firmly. But it could be a hobby or a bad habit. And he told us to put off the sins that easily entangle us. Our easily entangled sins can be greed or lust, or pride or doubt. And it may be hatred of others, selfishness, honor, or disobedience. We believe that we can win the race of faith only when we have the determination to break off these sins.
Second, we must race to the end with patience.
He said, 'With perseverance we run the race that is set before us.'
This means that the runner has to run to the end with patience and perseverance. No matter how hard or difficult it is, do not sit down in the middle, keep running, and do not get discouraged or despair in any extreme situation, and run and run vigorously. Only then we believe we can win every race.
Third, we must look only to Jesus.
When we run the race of faith, we must focus our eyes on Jesus and run. It means that we should not look at the world or look at the environment and circumstances, but we should always look to Jesus, who is the author and perfecter of our faith, and run. If we do not look to Jesus and look at the winds and waves of the world, it is easy to fall. You will fall into disappointment. Therefore, I hope that all of you will always be victorious in the race of faith because you always run to the end, looking only at Jesus Christ.
