Title: The Birth of Isaac
Content Fragment-->
Isaac's Birth (Genesis 21:1-7)
Dear saints! Abraham's family had a great affair. All the relatives rejoiced, and the whole town rejoiced. Sarah gave birth to a son at the age of 90. Sarah sang: “God makes me laugh, and everyone who hears will laugh with me. Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse her children? But in the old age of Abraham I gave birth to a son.” Dear all! Isaac's birth is a great comfort to us today. Let us dream of infinite possibilities today. You are giving infinite courage and mission to those of us who are living in such a frustrating and desperate time today. This morning, I want to share grace with you while thinking about “the birth of Isaac.”
I. faithful God
Isaac's birth shows that God is faithful to the covenant.
First, God's covenant was fulfilled “just as he said.” “The LORD took care of Sarah just as the LORD had said, and he did what the LORD said to her” (verse 1). God made a covenant with Abraham (12:2). God called Abraham and first promised to multiply his descendants. . And he made the same promise several times over the past 25 years. (Gen. 13:16, 15:5, 17:6) God promised to give Abraham a son in order to fulfill the covenant of the number of these descendants (Gen. 17:19, 18). :10) God took care of Sarah and acted on her in order to fulfill that covenant. The word “cared for” means that you visited and gave special grace. In order to fulfill the covenant with Abraham, God visited Sarah and gave him special grace. The word “has done” means that God intervened and worked. God specially intervened and worked so that Sarah could conceive. Our God is a faithful God who always fulfills what he has promised.
Dear all! Our God is a faithful God, a God who never lies, a God who took care of Sarah as you said! God did what He said to Sarah! I believe He will bless us as the Bible says.
Second, God's covenant was fulfilled "at the time". “Sarah became pregnant and at the time God had promised, she bore a son to Abraham in his old age” (verse 2). But there is a problem. The time I want and God's time are not the same. How great would it be if God's covenant was fulfilled when I wanted it and when I wanted it? But no. The time I want and God's time are different. So you have to wait.
Dear all! Our God is a faithful God. Once the promise is made, he will surely fulfill it when the deadline is fulfilled. “This vision has an appointed time, and its end will come quickly, and it will not be false. Even though it delays, wait, and it will not delay, it will surely come” (Habakkuk 2:3). God's promise is sure to come true. Even if it seems slow, it will surely happen. Faithful God, I pray that you are assured of a good God.
II. Almighty God
Isaac's birth shows the omnipotence of God. “Abraham was 100 years old when his son Isaac was born to him” (verse 5). Sarah was 90 years old at this time. This is a miracle. A 100-year-old husband and a 90-year-old wife gave birth to a son, and will be listed in the Guinness Book of Records. In Genesis 18:12, it is written, “Sarah laughed to herself and said, ‘What joy can I have, since I am old, and my master is old.” It's not that I laughed because I liked it. He laughed because he could not believe that he was going to have a son, who had no productive capacity at all. It was amazing and it made me laugh. What does God say? “Is there anything that cannot be done with the Lord? I will return to you at the proper time, and Sarah will have a son” (Genesis 18:14).
Dear all! Is there anything too difficult for the LORD? I bless you to keep these words in mind today. Our God is the God who created the heavens and the earth. He created from nothing and created everything in the world with the word. Would this God, the Creator, not give birth to a son just because he was old? Isaac's birth was due to the power of God the Creator. I pray that you believe in Almighty God.
Dear all! Our God is the faithful God, the Almighty God. So, once a promise is made, God is sure to fulfill it. However, God's covenant is fulfilled through faith. (Romans 4:18,21-22, Hebrews 11:11) Isaac's birth worked on the faith of Abraham and Sarah when God worked. Even Jesus saw faith and worked. (Matthew 9:2,22,29) No matter how much God has promised and God's time has come, if you do not believe, God will not work. I bless you to keep in mind that God works when you believe. The Bible says that faith is a gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12). I hope you will long for this gift of faith. Please pray for this gift of faith.
Dear all! What is our reality today? Are you struggling with unresolved problems? Are you regretting that your wish did not come true soon? Please do not lose heart and believe in our faithful God, our Almighty God. Please wait patiently for God's timing. I pray that you will receive the great blessing God has promised you through faith.
