Title: The Blessed One / Matthew 5:1-3

When Jesus saw the crowds, he climbed the mountain and sat down. The disciples came to Jesus. What can be expected in this situation is what words will come out of the mouth of Jesus. Jesus speaks to those who come before him. He will probably give a bonus word to those who climbed the mountain and appeared before Jesus. When the disciples came to Jesus, Jesus opened his mouth and spoke about the eight blessings. That's right. Bonuses are all about luck. You, too, have come to God on Sunday morning, and the Lord opens his mouth and begins to speak. That bonus is about luck. I wish you all to be blessed. Today's sermons are often called the Sermon on the Mount because they are the lessons spoken on the mountain.

Today, I will open my first mouth and testify to you.

Jesus opened his mouth to teach. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Who is the poor in spirit here? A person who acknowledges spiritual poverty. The poor in spirit refers to those who are sensitive to their spiritual condition. That such a person is blessed. This is someone who knows how to take care of himself because he is not living a spiritually correct life, and he is thirsty for spiritual things rather than physical things. Such a person is already a blessed person. Those who struggle to live their lives spiritually and believe that only God can make up for their need is in itself a blessing. It's a bit far from what we usually think of.

What we think of blessing is what we receive and have. For example, material blessings, disease treatment, business prosperity, children's prosperity, etc. Of course, this is undoubtedly a blessing. But this is far from the blessing Jesus is talking about. Jesus is not speaking of blessings in a physical, temporal sense. Material, success, success, health, and business prosperity are temporal and carnal blessings. Contrary to this, the blessing Jesus speaks of is primarily spiritual blessings.

In the words of Jesus, "Blessed are the poor in spirit." Blessings do not refer to worldly, temporal, or physical blessings, but to lasting spiritual joy and satisfaction regardless of worldly or temporal things. is. This blessing is not instantaneous, it is eternal. Temporal blessings are only blessings in this world, but spiritual blessings refer to blessings in this life and in the life to come. Jesus is speaking of such blessings now.

There is no one who is not blessed because he does not have material things. I am not a person who is not blessed because I am not healthy. It does not mean that you have failed in business or that you have not been blessed because your children are upset. If such a thing distinguishes those who are blessed from those who are not, the Christian faith is no different from other superstitions.

In our Christian faith, the blessed person is the one who realizes their spiritual incompetence and thoroughly admits their weakness. different dimension.

May you always remember that those who are poor in spirit are themselves blessed.

A poor person is a person who has some of these characteristics.

First, a person who admits his incompetence.

These people acknowledge their incompetence before God and rely on Almighty God. An incompetent person is a poor person. He doesn't trust himself because he's incompetent. I believe in our Lord more. So it is a blessed person. Those who overestimate their abilities will not admit their incompetence. He believes only in himself. There is no God, and they are indifferent to their spiritual reality and the afterlife. Jesus does not say that such a person is blessed. Of course, in this world, you may say that you are a handsome person and a blessed person. However, he is an incorrigible person who has been abandoned by God. An incompetent person has a strong faith, but a confident person has a cold faith and is full of blood. God says blessed are those who know their incompetence. He said that such a person will gain heaven. Hallelujah!]

Second, those who feel inadequate about the problems of the afterlife.

The Bible speaks of the afterlife countless times. ?t is appointed unto men once to die, and after that comes judgment??(Hebrews 9:27) ?hose who have fallen after they have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come cannot renew it again to repentance, for it is impossible for them to (Hebrews 6:5-6) Jesus said, ?ruly, I say to you, for me and for the gospel, there is no house, no brothers, no sisters, no mother or father, no children, no land. There is no one who has forsaken him who will not receive a hundredfold in this present time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecution, and in the age to come eternal life??(Mark 10:29-30).

There is an afterlife. When the present life ends, everyone, without exception, is destined to seek the afterlife. At this time, those who live and die in Jesus will enter the eternal life of eternal life, but all those who live and die in sin without believing in Jesus will enter the eternal life of punishment. The Bible says It clearly declares that the life to come is going by faith in Jesus. Therefore, we believe in Jesus for the blessings of the afterlife. No one wants to go to the next world with their own power. Those who acknowledge their shortcomings and live by faith in Jesus are the poor in spirit. It is a blessing to become someone who depends on Jesus for help in the world to come, like a poor person on his own because he lacks his own strength. That person is blessed to have eternal life.

Third, we are people who do not live self-centered, but God-centered.

Fourth, those who put their main concern on God and his kingdom.

Temporal and carnal things make us rich only in this life and in the life of the flesh. For example,

Material, wealth, honor, success, and health are things that give pleasure in this world and are good for the body. But people never solve everything just like that. There are many more problems that the body cannot solve. Such problems as discord, war, death, and hell are by no means temporal and carnal, and cannot be solved by such things. The same is true for things like reconciliation, peace, salvation, and heaven. These things can never be solved by material or power. These things are of God, of the spirit, and that all mankind

It is a common challenge to experience. All of these things belong to God. Therefore, we must live God-centered. It is to live with interest in the kingdom of God.

Those who live like this are poor in spirit and blessed.

Fifth, those who live with burdens and weary because of the world.

The poor in spirit are those who have spiritual hunger and know their incompetence and limitations. From a worldly point of view, such a person can live through difficult times in many ways. Because there are many temptations in the world, and deception prevails. Because we have to live and work together in a world of sin, we can suffer more and be more tired than others. In fact, if you believe in Jesus

If there is nothing to worry about and if you are just comfortable, this could be a symptom that something is going wrong. If it resembles the world, there is no persecution and there is no suffering.

Those who are poor in spirit are those who suffer hardships in this world, but receive blessings in the world to come. Therefore, if you have a burden and suffer because of your faith, please give thanks. Because Jesus says you are blessed.

Those who are poor in spirit know their own shortcomings, acknowledge their spiritual incompetence, and rely on God. He was said to be a person who suffered a lot in the world. Jesus tells them that they are blessed. Therefore, if you came out today as poor in spirit, you are already blessed. He is a blessed person who wants to be poor in spirit. Do you know what blessings he enjoys? That is the kingdom of God. Jesus specifically spoke of heaven. For those who are poor in spirit, the kingdom of heaven is theirs...
