Title: The Blessed One: The Unhappy (1)
Text/ Psalm 1; 1-8, 2: 1-12
1. Introduction
All people in this world, young and old, young and old, young and old, rich and poor, no one wants to live a life of unhappiness-poverty-pain-tragedy-bottom. Everyone in this world wants to live a life that is more blessed than anyone else - a better life - a more abundant life. Aristotle said, “The purpose of life is to live a happy life!” Well summed up in one word.
This morning, we would like to share grace while meditating on “What does the Bible say about this issue?” centering on the text of the text.
2. Study of the text - Psalm 1:1-8, 2:1-12
The Psalms (Psalm 150) are grouped into “Book 1 1-41, Volume 2 42-72, Volume 3 73-89, Volume 4 90-106, Volume 5 107-150”. Psalm 1 and Psalm 2 have a very important meaning in the entire Psalm. (1) Each of the other psalms in the psalms has the title and explanation of “a psalm of David, a psalm of Korah, a song to wind music, etc.”, but these two psalms do not. (2) Psalm 1 begins with “Blessed (Ashure)”, and Psalm 2 ends with “Blessed” (Ashre), so that the two psalms are connected with each other. . (3) In terms of content, Psalm 1 (the blessed person) and Psalm 2 (the unhappy person) are like two sides of the same coin. As such, Psalms 1 and 2 are meaningful in that they serve as the introduction and standard to guide the entire Psalm, and serve as a guide (direction). Also, the Bible says, “God does not delight in inflicting punishment, but in the one who delights in blessing.”
* I know that my thoughts toward you, saith the LORD, are not calamity, but peace (Jeremiah 29:11) * How can I take any joy at the death of the wicked? (Ezekiel 18:23) * If your son asks for a fish, and who will give you a snake, though you are evil, if you know how to give good things to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him (Matthew 7:9-11) * Fear not, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom (Luke 12:32) * God did not appoint us to wrath, but our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:9) * God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him (John 3:17) * I came as a sheep that they may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10) * God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7) It is not the true intention of God (Lamentations 3:33) and so on. It is indescribable!
