Title/ Samuel Called (Samuel, Samuel)
Text/ 1 Samuel 3:1-14
God leads history through people.
Even in an age when the light of hope is extinguished due to the corruption and depravity of mankind through sin, He does not stop working to save His people and continues.
God, who planned the age of the kingdom of Israel through David, calls the great prophet “Samuel” as a tool to lead an age.
1, We call leaders who will lead the spiritually dark age. Verses 1-4
“The word of the Lord was rare, and visions were not often seen.”
These words show how spiritually and morally corrupt the people of that time were.
The word of Jehovah has bottomed out.
The revelation that was given through the vision does not appear either.
(Judges 2:11-12) “The children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals, and forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, the gods of the people around them. he bowed down to anger the LORD.”
Looking at the state of the theocratic state for 450 years by the judges, they forsook Jehovah and served foreign gods, so they could not see the Word or vision and were filled with only the wrath of God.
God, who is well aware of this situation, is calling a new leader named “Samuel”.
2, He calls you repeatedly until you hear and understand. Verses 4, 6, 8, 10
7 Samuel had not yet known the LORD, and the word of the LORD had not yet appeared to him.
He takes pleasure in those who dwell in the temple of the Lord, and even if it lacks or is not enough, he makes them know and understand until the end.
(Jeremiah 29:12-13) “If you call upon me and come and pray to me (in the temple), I will hear you; and if you seek and seek me with all your heart, you will find me.”
After weaning, Samuel lived in the temple of the Lord and wanted to know the Lord more. He finally heard the voice of God, but he did not know.
With the help of the priest Eli, he learns that that voice is the voice of God who calls him.
(From 3 to 12 years old, hearing the voice of God after about 9 years)
3, You must call yourself and listen to what He says and obey. verse 10
Samuel said, Speak, and thy servant heareth.
A person of God must have a clear conviction of his calling and an attitude of obedience.
Peter, who was called by the Lord, also lowered his nets “by the word of the Lord” (Luke 5:5).
The Apostle Paul was also called by the Lord on the road to Damascus. (Acts 9:4-5) “Saul, Saul”
Today, God is calling workers for the harvest. (Luke 10:2)
“I will make it known that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who has called you by name” (Isaiah 45:3).
“I have called you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1).
Just as the God who appointed Samuel and called him, upholds him and uses him, so today he calls his servants and gives them strength, and gives them treasures and riches hidden in darkness and in secret places, so that they may make known his existence (Isaiah 45:3).
