Title: The catastrophe caused by betrayal
Contents
Ezekiel 17:11-24 / The catastrophe caused by betrayal
* Today's text / is a commentary on the parable above.
- Judas, the only way to live, was to serve Babylon.
& Ignoring God's warning / Relying on Egypt and falling apart.
- God made the betrayal of Babylon / because it was a covenant made in the name of God.
& You see it as a betrayal of God.
* However, God / through the Messiah who will come as a descendant of David - promises restoration.
* Through today's text / What kind of person God is and what lessons he gives me...
& A few / Let's think about it.
1. To judge Israel, who was deeply immersed in the fornication of idolatry.
& as the scourge of God's judgment - used Babylon.
- God through the scourge of Babylon / when Israel realized their sin
& repented - wanted to be renewed again.
** Also, here / already sent prophets - informed.
* By the way, / what about Israel?
Verses 14-15
- God wanted to re-establish Israel - through Babylon.
- However, Israel - betrayed Babylon /
& sent ambassadors to Egypt - rescued them horses and troops.
& relied on Egypt.
** Here / if you still want to depend - rely on God... I think so...
& Israel - destroyed / without trust in God
& Why can't we come to God with repentance?
- That's right, there's another corner to believe.
- Because there are other places to believe - I depend on it more than God...
& I have a point to believe in - I need to repent / I repent - I don't.
** But / (we all know the conclusion, right?) // & Is Egypt a credible corner?
- Egypt is not a reliable corner.
- Rather, it's a poison, right?
* Dear friends!
- Is there anything other than God / I believe in and trust today?
- Do I have any other beliefs?
** Those are all poisons.
- Trust only in our God / who can depend only on our God
& I hope you are like that.
2. By the way, there is something more important.
- Today's betrayal of Israel against Babylon - "How does God view you?" will do.
Verses 19-20
* King Zedekiah of Israel // borrowed horses and armies from Egypt
& Betrayal of Babylon - You must have seen it as an act to liberate the nation from Babylon.
- But, how does God / see it?
- God does not view it / as an act for the independence of the country.
& sees it as rebellion against God's covenant
- I don't see it as a betrayal of Babylon.
& despises the oath to God / as an act of betraying God's covenant.
** why?
- In 2 Chronicles 36 / King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon established Zedekiah as king of Judah
& swearing allegiance to Babylon... //
& I swear by it / in the name of God. <I put God's name on that covenant>
- So / if we made a covenant in God's name... //
& must be followed... //
& no matter how good the cause - if you break the covenant -
& that would be blasphemy against God
** So God / because it is a sin to blaspheme God's name
& I will put the blame on that head!! // You're talking.
- Rather than ‘who did you swear with’ / ‘in whose name did you swear’
& more importantly.
* Dear friends!
- Have you ever made an oath in the name of God?
- If so / be sure to keep it.
** Even if we don't put God's name on / if we make a promise, we have to keep it.
& If you make a promise in God's name - you have to keep it.
3. If you look at verse 12... / Let's read verse 12.
* What would God call the Israelites?
- You are calling me [a rebellious people]. ‘A rebellious people!!’
- Wow! They should be called the faithful / rebellious people - they are called.
* Today, he is still the king of a country... - King Zedekiah swore in the name of God.
& the betrayal of [International Promise with Babylon]
& at that time / how the people of Judah were 'in a moral insensitivity...'
& You could say / it is a clear example of that.
* Dear friends! - How is our society today?
- Once you make a promise - Is it a trustworthy society that always tries to keep that promise?
& Or, is it a society where fouls and corruption are rampant?
** Fouls and irregularities must not play a role.
- It has to be a trustworthy society.
- Fouls and injustices - as wise / - shouldn't be such a society.
* Dear friends!
- I want you to be trustworthy.
- the name of a Christian / the name of a saint
& Trustworthy // I hope you will be
** Everyone! // No matter how good your cause is - if you do something that will lose your credibility - you shouldn't.
