the challenge of the cross
(Matthew 20:17-19)
People sometimes have to make serious decisions. When you live in Korea, organize all your living quarters and surrounding environment, and then immigrate to another country, or when you have to try something new to start a business while working, you are determined with great determination.
Today is the day our Lord made an important decision for the final event in his 33-year life. When he entered the city of Jerusalem to do this important work, people spread their cloaks in front of Jesus riding a donkey and waved palm branches and shouted, “Hosanna Hosanna (Save me, save us! This is the case of Golgotha 2,000 years ago, and the Holy Spirit is still teaching us, and it is an event that vividly awakens us through the word of God.
After Jesus decided to be crucified and die, the large crowd who had followed him was defeated and he took only the twelve disciples and went into Jerusalem. Among them was Judas Iscariot, who had betrayed Jesus. He already knew that if he entered Jerusalem, he would be humiliated by the religious leaders. Religious leaders are people who went to the temple. They are not new believers or new believers, but people who have been in the church for a long time. It was through them that Jesus died on the cross.
1. The cross of Jesus is the challenge of life.
All human beings are under sin. The result of sin is death. That is why the theologian Pelagius says that all human beings are beings toward death. Sin (罪) is a departure from good (善). There is nothing good on this earth. The Bible says that nothing is good except God alone (Matthew 19:17). That is why all beings apart from God go toward death.
2. The cross of Jesus is a challenge to serve.
3. The cross of Jesus is the challenge of love.
