Title: The Christian Confession Is Christ
John 4:28-30 ‘28. The woman left her water jar and went into the town, and said to the people, 29. Come and see a man who told me all that I have done, is this not the Christ? 30. And they came out of the town and came to Jesus.” -Amen.
The word “confession” is yada (hd;y;), and it means confessing repentance or acknowledging and admitting the truth by confiding what is in your heart without lies. It can also be interpreted as giving thanks and praise to God. It's possible. We want to realize that what those who have gained the assurance of true salvation must confess together is not the positive will or subjectivity of their own, but the fact that Jesus is my Christ.
1. It is the fact that Jesus had a deep interest in who he was until he received the assurance of salvation.
Many people who leave the church come to become religious people mainly as a means of fulfilling culture. To be saved, you must be curious about Christ Jesus.
In verse 16 and below, this woman was a woman in need of great comfort from the fact that she had been divorced 5 times and that even the sixth man living in the present could not function properly. From the beginning of this chapter, Jesus talked with her in detail about her family history, but he did not take any measures. The pragmatic world always likes people who benefit me and doesn't like people who reproach me.
Perhaps because this woman has a philosophy that she has realized by living through the world in a different way, who is it about Jesus Himself, who speaks in detail about her situation? He showed an attitude of listening to the end with deep interest.
This is the true attitude of those who will be saved. The reason why you feel discouraged after leaving church or do not always find happiness after leaving the church is because you are more concerned about yourself than about Jesus. To escape the dark shadows, look to the sun first.
2. I went to testify to the locals of the joy of meeting Christ.
If you look closely at the content before and after the text, it just reveals that her life is in a poor condition, and there is nothing to be happy about other than being taught to correct her religious life. Even though the people in the village would not have a good understanding of her plight, how could they have forgotten that Jesus was the Christ and left their water jar behind and went into the village to testify?
main text
John 4:29 “Come and see a man who told me all that I have done, is this not the Christ?”
The evangelism “Come, see, and come” is also the expression Philip used when he led Nathanael to Jesus. John 1:46 "...and Philip said, Come and see."
Although she was a despised Samaritan, divorced 5 times and her current family was not normal, she had hope for the coming of Christ. Finally, it seemed unusual for someone to tell me about her poor life, so I listened to the sermon to the end, realized it, and gained the assurance of salvation. Finally, I went to the villagers to confess and testify of Christ.
True evangelism requires a confession that testifies of Jesus Christ who has come to us. It's not that I'm happy to be a positive person or successful person, but knowing that I'm a sinner thoroughly and discovering Jesus who is my Christ should be great joy, and a willing heart to testify Christ Himself to people is the only way to be truly saved. will be
