Beloved, not all who have children become fathers and mothers. We must receive the heart of the father and the heart of the mother from God. This means that, looking at me as a parent, children should be able to smell the fragrance of God and enjoy the shadow of Heavenly Father.
So, how do you raise children? The Bible teaches in Ephesians 6:4, "Fathers, do not provoke your children, but bring them up in the instruction and instruction of the Lord." This verse has a structure of two positive sentences after one negative sentence, 'Do not provoke your children'. Nurture them in the instruction of the Lord, and bring them up in the instruction of the Lord.
The teaching of the Lord means “The training”, that is, the Lord’s training. When Proverbs 22:6 “Teach a child in the way he should go,” the word “teach” also has the meaning of “training”. Therefore, the precept of the Lord means "train according to God-given guidelines."
① It means to lead your children to the Lord. I must keep in mind that I have lost the most precious thing in my life if I do not lead my children whom I have entrusted to my home to the Lord.
② Lessons from the Lord - In the Reformed Bible, it is called Lord's education. It is to teach by example. Paul says, “Be imitators of me, just as I am imitators of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:11). We, too, should be able to gather our children in our house and talk like Paul. At least, you have to be able to say, “Children, I want you to try to be like Jesus Christ just as Dad tries to be like Jesus.”
The final principle of raising children is to "nurture them in the instruction of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4).
"Discipline" here refers to prompt treatment. The treatment of correcting the wrong, this is called discipline It is only through healing with the admonition of the Lord that a wrong child can be rectified. We should follow the teachings of the Bible that we should not discipline with emotions, we should treat with the Word of God and religious values, and we should not discipline ourselves with greed.
Beloved, how are you raising your children? Are you not hurting, breaking their hearts, and breaking down the children you need to raise? Don't try to raise a child with a reward mentality. Do not try to discipline yourself with your own values or worldly values. I pray in the name of the Lord that we will become good parents of faith by obeying God's teachings and commands to nurture them in the Lord's instruction, not in the human way, but in the Lord's admonition.
