Jesus' Coming
Matthew 1:21
1. The Lord Who Came as Savior
Christmas is the day when our God who loved us sent Jesus to save us from our sins through Jesus. Therefore, Christmas should be such a day filled with the joy, emotion, and praise of salvation.
2. The Lord Came to Give Peace
Another purpose for which Jesus came to this earth is to bring peace to us humans. With the coming of Jesus, mankind can taste peace. By sacrificing himself, Jesus gave mankind the great gift of peace. We rejoice because it is the day when I meet the Lord and give all meaning to the life of faith I live for Him.
3. The Lord Who Came to Give Grace
The purpose of Jesus' coming was to complete the law given in the Old Testament and to grant grace to the New Testament saints. The law is like a schoolteacher, and has the role of making us realize our sins. If we realize our shortcomings through the law, we must once again give thanks for the grace of Jesus who loves us and saves us in spite of our shortcomings. Considering that we were justified freely by God's grace, we can feel that this grace must be reflected in the lives of the saved believers. In other words, because we are people who have received grace, we must live by giving according to the grace we have received.
4. The Lord Came to Serve
If he comes, it would be good to recognize him as the king of Israel, and if he comes through the wonderful cheers and the amazing ceremony, Jesus' coming is very unique. There is no such thing as luxury. However, if we know the purpose of Jesus' coming, we will be able to understand a little bit of His appearance. Since he did not come to be served, he was extremely humble in all aspects of Jesus' birth. The entire life of Jesus begins with serving and ends with serving. Christmas, for the sake of serving, let's think about the meaning of Christmas once again. And thinking of Jesus who came to serve, we earnestly wish that we too will strive to become saints who are accustomed to serving.
This week, I want you to be the precious people of the Lord who rejoice and give thanks for Christmas while thinking about the purpose of Jesus coming to this earth.
