Matthew 27:26-44 The Messiah's Crucifixion Topic: 13. Christ. 2008. 3. 16.
◎ Introduction
It deals with the suffering and crucifixion of the Lord. (Mark 15:16-32, Luke 23:24-43, John 19:16-24)
※ The people of various classes of the world who belong to God who stood before Christ rejected the Son of God and inflicted pain and death.

1. Rulers (26)
※ The Sanhedrin and Pilate, to which the religious and social leaders of Israel belong, condemned Christ to death.
※ Pilate also succumbed to death in order to secure his peaceful rule and position.
2. Soldiers (27-38)
※ The soldiers mocked and tortured Christ.
One). Christ was whipped (26).
* At the end of the leather whip, there are small balls of lead, bones, nails, etc., which inflict pain on the flesh.

3). Christ was stripped of his garments and clothed in a scarlet robe. (28)
* Became a shame and ridicule
4). A crown of thorns was placed upon Christ's head, and a reed was held in his hand. (29)

* He ridiculed and ridiculed Christ's claim to be king.

* He tried to show that Jesus, like other sinners, was nothing more than a human.

3. Passers-by (39-40)
※ Many people were passing by. They reviled and mocked Christ.
① Only Christ was insulted. The other two prisoners were not insulted.
② They saw him hanging on the cross, and they believed in his claim to be king. However, at the instigation of the accusers, he shook his head and insulted him.
* The shaking of the head was their gesture of insult, contempt, and ridicule.
※ Why did passersby insult me?
① Claiming to have the authority to destroy and rebuild the temple. (Matthew 26:60-61)
② Claiming to be the Son of God. (Mt 26:64)
4. Religious people and leaders (41-43)
※ Religious people and leaders (elders) insulted and ridiculed Christ.
※ The reason the leaders laughed
① He is the Savior (Luke 19:10, Matt 8:20)
② He is King (Mt 27:11, Jn 18:37)
③ He is the Son of Man who completely trusted God (John 4:34, 5:30, 8:36)
④ He claimed to be the Son of God. (John 3:16-18, 10:36)
※ The purpose is to reinforce their claim that Christ is a deceiver and a deceiver in the minds of the crowd while at the same time strengthening them.
It was to expose their humiliation and hatred of Christ.
※ Even the religious leaders did not understand the Messiah at all. (1 Tim 1:15, 2:5-6)
5. Prisoners (44)
※ Prisoners also took part in blaspheming Christ. that is
① Show the severity of ridicule and insult.
② It shows the degree of malice and sarcasm in the hearts of people.
③ Shows a corrupted heart to the point of forgetting one's own situation.
④ It shows the depth of shame that humans can become subservient.
“When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but entrusted himself to him who judges righteously, and he himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we died to sins and to righteousness that by his wounds you were healed” (1 Peter 2:23-24).
