The Da Vinci Code (2 John 1:6-8)
On May 18, 2006, the movie "The Da Vinci Code" was released in theaters around the world. Christian groups are in conflict with various confusions, such as issuing an injunction to ban screenings and holding rallies against the screenings.
Today, I would like to share with you the biblical values of how we should look at this movie and book.
▣ Those who challenge themselves in the clothes of culture.
Culture is so diverse that it can be said that it is the sum total of everything in which we humans live. Culture is our life, and it can be said that we organize the things we go through every day. Culture is quick to absorb. Therefore, various forces that challenge and distort the absolute truth through this culture confuse us.
Culture has a huge ripple effect, so we use it to shake our values. We must be vigilant and alert.
▣ Various workshops and arguments about the Da Vinci Code.
The main content of The Da Vinci Code, which has been made into a novel and now a movie, is as follows.
① Jesus did not take up the cross.
② Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married and their descendants became the Merovingian dynasty of France.
③ The New Testament is a fictional story made up by the disciples of Jesus.
④ Fearing that these facts would lose their power if known, the Church has kept it hidden from the public from that time to the present.
And the big secret at issue is in Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" painting.
▣ A cultural industry that stimulates curiosity.
On the other hand, it can be argued that it is a film or a novel that is too sensitive. However, it is impossible to overcome the greed and negativity of many people who are hiding in it. There are many fakes because there are real ones.
Criticize the cultural industry that stimulates our curiosity and fills our stomachs. And I am concerned about how unbelievers will feel through this culture.
We may not be shaken in our faith, but when we think about the many souls we have to evangelize and lead to God, it is really sad. How would you explain our same-sex youth? How would you answer if I asked you to go see this movie and ask your friends at church after you watch it?
