Title: The Dead Are Freed from Sin
Contents
The gospel is not only the death of sin on the cross, but the death of the body of sin. The body of sin must die to be freed from sin. Therefore, the gospel says, "...how shall we, who are dead to sin, live any longer in them?" (Romans 6:2), and also, "We have been set free from sin and become slaves to righteousness" (Romans 6:18), and again "...Now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, you have obtained the fruit that leads to holiness, and the end is eternal life" (Romans 6:22).
It is written of those whose body of sin died with the Lord, “...for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2), and also “. … He loved us and freed us from our sins by his blood” (Revelation 1:5).
Therefore, the eternal gospel is not the forgiveness of sins, but liberation from sins. To be set free from sin is that the old man, the body of sin, was crucified with Christ and died with him. Therefore, it is the eternal gospel that exists only to those who have put off the old self with Jesus.
It is written, “Faithful saying, if we died with the Lord, we also live together” (2 Timothy 2:11). This is the everlasting gospel.
There is a general gospel and there is an eternal gospel. The general gospel is the gospel of the atonement received by all peoples under the blood of Jesus, that is, "... through your seed all peoples will be blessed..." (Genesis 22:18). The gospel, and the everlasting gospel, is that even the body of sin will die with Christ and the body of sin will be destroyed, so that we will no longer be slaves to sin, but become servants of Christ to righteousness.
“We know that our old self was crucified with Jesus so that the body of sin might be put to nothing, and that we would no longer be enslaved to sin, because the dead have been set free from sin” (Romans). 6:6-7) It is the same thing as God.
To sin, the body of sin must die to be freed from sin. Those who do not have the body of sin can never be freed from sin. Therefore, those who have died in the body of sin are no longer of the world, because they are no longer in the flesh, but in the spirit. Those who died with the Lord, the old man, the body of sin, are now raised with the Lord and are the children of God who are born from above.
The kingdom of God is a new heaven and a new earth in which the children of God who are born again will inherit with Christ. It will be as it is written, “If children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, for we must suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him” (Romans 8:17).
Therefore, regarding those who know only the forgiveness of sins and have not destroyed the body of sin, the Bible says, “I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor do perishables inherit incorruption” (1 Corinthians 15). :50) proves that.
Therefore, now the everlasting gospel is the deliverance of the dead from sin. Therefore, the Bible says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live” (John 5:25), and also “He made you, who were dead in your trespasses and sins, alive.” come” (Ephesians 2:1).
Glory and honor and praise to God our Father, the Father of Christ Jesus, who through faith alone made us who were dead with Christ together to sin through faith again alive again to Christ and righteousness through faith, to walk in a new life. Amen. Thank you Lord.
