Title: The Decision of the People of Israel

< The determination of the people of Israel (Nehemiah 10:28-39)

I. Deciding not to marry a stranger
<
< The people of Israel decided not to intermarry with a foreigner (verse 30). God forbade the chosen people of Israel from intermarrying with a foreigner. what's the reason? Why did God forbid interarriage with Gentiles? Did God Forbid International Marriage? Why was he told not to marry a stranger? “For the LORD is angry with you and will suddenly destroy you, because he has seduced your son to leave the LORD and serve other gods.” (Deuteronomy 7:4) It is forbidden because you are going to serve. King Solomon was a king who served God well. He was a king who received special love and blessings from God. However, as they welcomed Gentiles as queens, idols entered Jerusalem and they committed a great sin.

II. Determined to keep holy days holy
<
< The people of Israel decided to keep the holy day holy by not trading on the Sabbath in verse 31. How should we keep holy days? “Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8).

Ⅲ. Determined not to forsake the temple of God
<
< The people of Israel lived their lives centered on the temple of God. To draw near to the temple of God is to draw near to God. To distance yourself from the temple of God is to distance yourself from God. To forsake the house of God is to forsake God. Christians are people who live in the church. To draw near to the church, the body of Jesus Christ, is to draw near to Jesus. To stay away from the church is to stay away from Jesus. To forsake the church is to forsake Jesus Christ. The Israelites were determined not to forsake the house of God.

Dear all! We are children of God. We are Christians who have received the grace of redemption through the blood of Christ. I hope that there will not be a single member of the church who abandons the church, the body of the Lord. To be indifferent is to throw it away. We are not spectators. Our church is my church. I hope that you will have interest and affection for the Church, the body of the Lord, and fulfill your duties as saints. “I will not forsake the Church, which is the body of the Lord.” I pray that you will become saints who make new resolutions this fall.
