Title: The Devil and the Fall of Unbelievers
Revelation 20:7-15 ‘7. At the end of the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, 8. And he will come out and deceive the peoples of the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, and gather them to fight, and their number will be as the sand of the sea. They were thrown into the lake of brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
12. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their deeds, as they were written in the books.
14. Death and Hades were also thrown into the lake of fire, which is the second death, the lake of fire. 15. Whosoever was not written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.' - Amen.
In Revelation 19, there was the second coming of Jesus, and in Revelation 20, the history of the second coming is connected. At the beginning of this chapter, after a thousand years of catching the devil and imprisoning him in the abyss, he is released from prison. And again, when the spirits of Gog and Magog deceive the world and cause war, fire comes down from heaven and burns them up. Let's look at <Destruction of the Devil and Unbelievers>.
1. The Devil's End
In Revelation 19, we saw the scene where Jesus, at his second coming, with the power of the devil, caught the antichrist and false prophet, the beasts that tormented the world, especially the saints, and threw them alive into the lake of brimstone. And then, at the beginning of this chapter, I saw that an angel was sent to catch the devil and imprison him in the abyss for a thousand years.
In verses 7-8 of the text, after the thousand years had expired, the people of the earth, who were released from their prison, were unbelievers and were trying to incite them to attack the saints. Again, fire came down from heaven and burned them up. Gog and Magog are the countries in the northeast that tormented Israel with one word, and in the last days they are symbolized as the enemies of the saints and the nations of the world (Ezekiel 38:2).
And the text of Revelation 20:10 says, “And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Chapters 19 and 20 should be viewed as the progress of history, as it clearly reminds us of the events in Chapter 19 and shows the order of time history by throwing the devil where the antichrist and false prophets are.
2. Books and the Book of Judgment
It is also called the judgment of the white throne. Some people understand that the person who sits on the white throne is Jesus or God the Father. The devil has now been sent to hell, and the rest are unbelievers. Only then will the unbeliever be resurrected to eternal punishment. The second judgment, the eternal judgment, is also called the judgment of works. In verse 12, the books and the book of life appear. The books are in the plural form of the sins of unbelievers, and the book is the book in which the names of saints are recorded in the singular form.
In Revelation 20:12, it is said that ‘…the dead were judged according to their deeds according to what was written in the books’. Because the saints are resurrected. Those who have died will be judged by the whole world, the sea and the earth, and all souls buried in darkness will come out. In the end, the substance of death and the Hades that imprisoned the soul will all be thrown into the lake of fire, which is the lake of sulfur and hell.
All unbelievers who are not written in the book of life will all be thrown into the lake of hellfire, even if they seem to have done any good deeds in history. They will go to Hell, and the saints will now enter eternal Heaven. The scene will continue in the next chapter.
