(2 Peter 1:4-9) “By this he has given us that precious and exceedingly great promise, that through this promise you will escape (forsaken) the corruption in the world through lust, and those who are partakers of the divine nature. Therefore, be more diligent, supplying to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. This is enough for you, so that you do not become sluggish and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ; but whoever does not have these things is blind, lack of vision, and has forgotten the cleansing of his old sins.”
1. The earnest hope for the sure evidence of all the witnesses of faith.
(1 John 1:1-7) “As for the word of life (Jesus Christ), which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and touched with our hands, this life was made manifest, and we Been seen and witnessed and declare to you, this is the one who was with the Father and was revealed to us. What we have seen and heard, we are also telling you, so that you may have fellowship with us. Our fellowship is with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. For we are writing this so that our joy may be full. This is the news we have heard from him and are proclaiming to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. If we have fellowship with God, If we say that we are godly) and walk in darkness (if we do not walk godly), we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light (if we walk godly), we have fellowship with one another (the same children and people). The blood of Jesus the Son will cleanse us from all sin (holy being).”
1) Those who share the facts have a deep passion for the truth in their hearts.
- The persecution of Christians in the early church was beyond our imagination.
* In Israel, they were imprisoned, stoned to death, and persecuted by their own people.
* In Rome, the persecution was even worse, and it became a spectacle as prey for animals in the amphitheater.
* This persecution continued for about 300 years after the death of Jesus Christ.
* But it is true that they did not stop in the midst of such persecution.
* During the Great East Japan Earthquake, Crisis Management Division employee Miki Endo died along with an evacuation broadcast.
* Jesus' disciples saw, heard, touched, ate together, and experienced.
* It was such a huge event, and it was the only way to salvation as an event of great change in human history.
* They did not preach perseverance and death in suffering and persecution for themselves.
* It was not for the purpose of expanding one's honor or one's territory, or for property.
* They simply had to tell the truth of salvation that they knew.
(Acts 4:16-20) “What shall we do with these people that the famous sign was revealed to all who live in Jerusalem because of them, and we cannot deny it. And he called them and warned them not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus at all." Peter and John answered, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God. 'I can't do it'
-People speak and act based on what they have experienced and learned. : In other words, do what you know.
* People are not passionate about things they know nothing about.
* Have a passion for realization through experience and knowledge through learning.
* If Christians have a firm trust in God, they have a burning passion.
* Christians do not have passion because they do not have such firm faith and trust.
* People are passionate about things. You can find out what the object of that passion is.
* A person's passion becomes the center of his or her life. live for it
* Responsibility and passion are different. Responsibility is not desperate, but passion is earnest.
* Today, this pulpit also has such passion because there is earnestness.
* Such earnestness is based on facts and truth. : like the disciples
* We must be intelligent in Christ.
(Acts 17:11-12) “The Bereans were more gentle than those in Thessalonica, so they received the word with all earnestness and searched the scriptures daily to see if this was the case.
* We are Christians in the truth living in the abundance of life.
* We are now hearing about godliness and it is part of the attribute of participation in the divine nature.
* Piety, which participates in the divine nature, is an active aspect of the Christian.
2. Godliness is the true Christian image that comes from an active disposition toward God.
(1 Timothy 4:8-10) “Physical exercise is profitable for a little while, but godliness is beneficial for all things, with promise in this life and in the life to come. because we put our hope in the living God, the Savior of all people, especially those who believe.”
1) To look like ~ and to look like ~ are very different.
- It is like the difference between life and harmony.
* No matter how beautiful harmony is, it only imitates flowers, but the essence is different.
* There are things in living flowers that cannot be imitated by harmony. that is godliness
* There are some benefits to imitation. Because it can be some training to godliness.
* Religion is life itself, but physical exercise can be changed according to circumstances.
* Religion is a natural appearance, but physical exercise has a forced appearance.
* Religion is always God-centered in it and appears as life, but practice is not like that.
- It is not a formal ritual or method.
* It is not just the experience of fasting and prayer, the joy of singing and dancing, or the offering of worship.
* If you come down from the prayer center after fasting and your lifestyle is the same as before, it is a physical exercise.
* We must put our hopes on the living God. That person should be your mentor.
* Religion is only when the Word of God has the power to work dynamically within you.
(2 Corinthians 13:5 New Standard Version) “Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith, and check yourself. Don't you know that Jesus Christ is among you? If you don’t, you are disqualified.”
