26. There is no one like God, Jeshurun, who ascends through the heavens to help you;

27. The eternal God is your dwelling place, and his everlasting arms are under you, and he drives out your enemies before you, and says, Destroy them.

28. Israel dwells in safety, and Jacob's fountain is alone in a land of grain and new wine, where his heavens drop the dew.

29. Blessed are you, O Israel. Who is like you, saved by the LORD? He is your shield and the sword of your glory. Your enemies will be subject to you, and you will tread on their high places.

27. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

28. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

29. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.

Subject: God's Eternal Arm

Text: Deuteronomy 33:26-29, John 10:27-29

God's love for us is a grace that no one can break, and there is no way to break it. This is why Romans 8 is said to be the apex of Paul's epistles. Having tasted this wonderful love, he could count all the boastings of the past as excrement (Philippians 3:7-9). It is the love of God, who could not bear to see the misfortunes of humans who were made to resemble His image, and made Christ to take the place of suffering (John 3:16). Unbreakable love in the heavens and the lows means absolute safety and absolute perfection. It is a grace that does not allow any change of circumstances to affect it. Of course, whatever our response is, it is a grace that is included before God's absolute sovereignty and absolute providence. It does not care about our mistakes or shortcomings. The only role we have to play is faith (obedience and obedience) in God's absolute love for us.

“Eternal life is to know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” (John 17:3). ‘Knowing’ here includes close relationships and associations that go beyond simple knowledge. The Greek word 'know' ('ginosko') corresponds to the Hebrew word 'sleeping' ('ada') of the relationship between a man and a woman living together (Matthew 1:25). One of the expressions for this relationship is ‘In Christ’. It is used 77 times in the New Testament alone. It is another aspect of the spiritual reality that we have received Christ. It is the truth that God has received us in Christ. He has made us a partaker of His life (Acts 17:28). Through the event of the cross, God killed our old life (Galatians 2:20; Romans 6:1-7; Col 3:3), and instead gave the life of Jesus Christ as our own.

This is a judgment and choice from God's side, regardless of our judgment or choice. This is from the parable of the true vine. “You did not choose me. I have chosen you and appointed you...so that whatever you ask in my name, you will receive it” (John 15:16). Today's Old Testament text (Deuteronomy 33:26-29) is the end of Moses' farewell sermon. After blessing the twelve tribes, reaching the end, this is a reminder that the only source for Israel to receive these blessings is in God. “The eternal God is your dwelling place, and his everlasting arms are under you” (Deuteronomy 33:27). All the graces and blessings that the chosen people of Israel receive are based on God's embrace. Because 'his everlasting arms' are with him. The ‘eternal arm’ is a personified expression of God and symbolizes the absolute power of God.

The New Testament text (John 10:26-29) also speaks of the irresistible force of eternal life that Christians receive. It is an expression of absolute security, absolute perfection of eternal life, given through Jesus Christ. “...no one can snatch them out of my hand...and no one can snatch them out of my father's hand” (28:29). God's eternal arms are invincible (Psalm 89:13). God's love for us under all circumstances is not passive, but active and abundant (Ephesians 3:8; Phil 4:13). When that hand comes, nothing is impossible (Matthew 14:22-32). It doesn't matter if it's late (John 11:40). All we have to do is believe. It is believing in that great love. Faith in the Lord Jesus is required in any life situation. That faith gives life to his sheep and makes them more abundant (John 10:10).
