Title: The Faithful Life/Ephesians 4:29
Contents The Christian life of virtue/Ephesians 4:29
For those who believe in Jesus and live with the assurance of salvation, the most important thing is a life that builds virtue. There are several factors that build this virtue. Among them, an essential element is the words (language) that come out of our mouths. As we can realize in our home, church, or work life, we are well aware of how powerful words can have an impact. Good words give us courage and hope in our lives, but there are also bad words that hurt our hearts and take away our hopes.
In today's text, this is divided into 'dirty words' and 'good words'.
Dirty words destroy the virtues of homes and churches, but good words are an important building block.
James 3 speaks of our three toothed tongue: "No man can tame the tongue, a restless evil, full of deadly poison" (James 3:8).
“Whoever calls raga to his brother will be taken into custody” (Matthew 5:22), said Jesus.
This means to make the relationship beautiful by using good words.
After Cain killed his brother Abel, when the Lord God asked where his brother Abel was, he said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?" Cain's words are irresponsible and deceptive. When Joseph's brothers saw him coming near them, they said, "Come on, kill him and throw him into a pit, and we say, 'An evil beast has devoured him.'" These words of the brothers are evil words of envy and murder.
“Do not be troubled and do not lament because you sold me here, for God has sent me before you to save lives.” These were the words of forgiveness and comfort that Joseph spoke to his brothers. In other words, it is a virtuous word that fills in the gaps in human relationships. Anyone who believes in God should be able to advance to the position of Joseph's faith.
As we go through our daily lives, there will be countless words that come out of our mouths. What you need to think about is how each word I say affects my family, classmates, and co-workers at work. As Christians, every word we say should be a word that brings grace to those who hear it. A word of comfort and forgiveness is the pride of Christ and is the foundation of supporting the family and the church, but a word of envy and irresponsible malice has the result of completely destroying human relationships.
We should daily live in the grace and love of Christ who redeemed us, and build a life that is edified by our language and deeds.
