Title: The Fall of Goraildang/Numbers 16:32~40
Content 28. Fall of Goraildang
Numbers 16:32-40
Today's story continues in God's dreadful judgment reminiscent of the hell of father-in-law. A challenge to God came with the judgment of an earthquake. The earth is cracked and people are buried alive in the earth. You can hear people screaming here and there. God's judgment is so cruel that it is carried out.
Meanwhile, Korah, who was holding the censer in the tabernacle, and the two hundred and fifty chieftains who sympathized with his rebellion were also judged without exception. They were all judged by fire and disappeared as a handful of ashes before him.
The fierce tornado of judgment has passed and peace has returned. God calls Moses and commands him. “You shall command Eleazar son of Aaron the priest to take the censer from the dead and pour out the fire within it.”
Here, instead of having Aaron the priest, he entrusted this task to his son Eliasar, the next high priest, because the high priest, who must maintain holiness and holiness, cannot touch the dead body. He also commanded that the holy censer offered to God be consumed because it could not be consumed with the fire of judgment. And since the fire in the censer was the fire of unclean judgment, he ordered them to be thrown away outside the camp.
God's command continues. “The people of Israel sinned and lost their lives, but the censer they sacrificed has been made holy because it has already been offered to God. This is so that descendants can see the iron wrapped around the altar and forever remember the rebellion of the Gora clan and its punishment.”
In order to prevent a foolish rebellion like the Korahites from recurring again, God made a token for his descendants. We do not forget our office and do it with pride. Look at the iron on the altar.
