The origin of the Thanksgiving Day is that the people of Israel came to Canaan after 40 years of living in the wilderness to receive manna and quail from God, and began farming with their own hands and giving the first fruits to God. We thank God for saving us, giving us the promised land of Canaan as an inheritance, and making the year's harvest possible in the promised land. It is like giving birth to a child at home and having them study, and then using the first salary they received after getting a job, they gave their parents underwear as a gift. During the Thanksgiving service, we too will have to change our life in the wilderness like a child, that is, a life that only receives and eats from God, and produces beautiful fruits and gives thanks to God.
In a spiritual sense, the feast of Thanksgiving is also called Pentecost as it is exactly the 50th day counting from the day after the Passover in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, it is the day of the coming of the Holy Spirit. It is the day that Jesus' 12 disciples and 120 other saints received the amazing Holy Spirit while praying in Mark's upper room. This day is also the birth day of the early church. So, Thanksgiving Day is even more meaningful.
Today is Thanksgiving Day, but it is also the beginning of summer Bible schools and retreats, so I hope that the fullness of the Holy Spirit will occur at every Bible school and retreat. do.
Why do we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit? (1) Because it gives you power. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, believing in Jesus, evangelizing, and being faithful is the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who complain are evidence that the Holy Spirit has been quenched. No one noticed the young boy David, but when Samuel anointed David's head, the Holy Spirit and power came upon him, so he killed Goliath and became king in the future. I pray in the name of Jesus that even the children of Sunday School will be filled with the Holy Spirit. (2) The kingship, priesthood, and prophetic authority are restored. In the Old Testament, only kings, priests, and prophets were anointed with oil. If we receive the filling of the Holy Spirit today, the authority to rule, the authority to go before God and offer sacrifices, and the authority to foresee the future are restored all at once. (3) Because our diseases are healed. When we are happy and happy, endorphins are released from our body to heal diseases. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, it is said that didolphins, which are 4,000 times more effective than endorphins, are released. I hope you will be filled with the Holy Spirit this time and be cured of all diseases.
How can we receive the Holy Spirit? (1) It is a time to listen to the Word. (Acts 10:44) (2) It is a time to pray together (Acts 4:31) (3) It is a time when our strong self is broken. (4) It is time to repent thoroughly. (Acts 2:38) It seems that summer retreats are constantly changing to vacation and fellowship. First, I hope it will be a retreat where the fire of the Holy Spirit comes on.
However, the Corinthian church was filled with the Holy Spirit and received various gifts as gifts, but a dispute arose. This is because they boasted that the gifts they received were better (1 Corinthians 12:26-31). Many gifts are needed in the church. If all are choir members, all teachers, all flower arrangement team, all parking management team, all restaurant team, the church cannot return. We have to respect each other. (The story of the woodworking tools arguing that they were good at each other. The bottom line is that Jesus came in and made a beautiful platform using all the tools). And you have to know that no matter what gift you receive, it is not all but a greater gift. do. So, after the 12th chapter of 1 Corinthians, which introduces various gifts, the famous 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians, the chapter on love, begins. Whatever gift you receive, if you do not receive the gift of love, it becomes partial. We can be perfect only when we receive the gift of love.
