Title: The First Miracle / John 9:15-17

Content first miracle

John 9:15 17

We started the year 1998 by worshiping God through prayer and fasting.

We worship like this because we believe that our life and social welfare truly depend on God. Although we have had a turbulent old year and welcomed a new year of hope, we continue to face economic difficulties and other problems.

We must leave these matters to God alone. Also, God's miracle is desperately needed to make all our New Year's wishes come true.

In a way, our life itself can be seen as a miracle. Moreover, in order for us to obtain “double revival, double blessing” this year, when an economic recession is predicted, the miracle of God helping us is more necessary.

Then, will God's miracles and blessings come?

Through the miraculous event of Jesus at the wedding feast in Cana, let's learn how to live this year in a dark and hopeless way with hope and abundance.

First, there are miracles only in Jesus.

Among the seven representative miracles in the Gospel of John, Jesus performed the first miracle at a wedding feast in Cana.

In addition, Jesus performed a miracle that transcends space (John 4:46-54) by healing the son of a royal servant with a word, and a miracle that transcends time (John 4:46-54) by healing a 38-year-old sick man at the pool of Bethesda. 5:1~47), five barley loaves and two fish, and by feeding 5,000 males and tens of thousands of females, He showed a miracle that surpassed the limit (Hyo 6:16-21). He healed (John 9:1~41), and by raising Lazarus from the dead four days ago, He performed a miracle that transcends not only disease but also death (John 11:1~57).

In this way, the Lord who believes in Urikda instilled hope and courage to those in despair by performing miracles to anyone, if it was God's will in any case, and revealed the glory of God.

Second, the first miracle happened at home.

The first community that God created is the family. In this way, God values the family as the most important.

Likewise, Jesus considered the happiness of a family to be important, so he performed the first miracle at a wedding feast where a new couple was born. Jesus miraculously turned the suffering and anxiety that suddenly came upon this family into joy.

The fact that God wants family happiness above all else can be seen from the fact that most of the Ten Commandments are related to family safety and happiness.

The fifth commandment, "Honor your father and mother," respects the principle of filial piety and the order of filial piety. The seventh commandment, “You shall not commit adultery,” is to keep the love between husband and wife. The eighth commandment, “You shall not steal,” is about the security of your home.

The ninth commandment, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor,” is a solemn command not to destroy the happiness of your family.

Therefore, if you keep the Ten Commandments well, your family will be protected, you will be harmonious, and you will be happy.

Only when the family is happy like this can we endure and overcome difficulties. No matter how chaotic society is or how difficult the country is economically, we will be able to survive this transitional period generously.

Fifth, miracles come to those who believe and obey.

Miracles don't happen to everyone. Miracles are meant for the benefit of those who believe, and ultimately to the glory of God.

Miracles happen to those who believe in a God who gives miracles. Miracles can never happen without faith.

The Bible says [Jesus entered the house, and blind men came out, and Jesus said to him, "Do you believe that I am able to do this? His eyes were opened] (Matthew 9:28-30). We must believe that God is still alive and grants blessings and grace to those who ask for Him.

Also, miracles appear to those who work hard according to the word of the Lord, who believe and obey the word of the Lord.

God works through responsible people who are diligent and fulfill their responsibilities. Therefore, if we have faith and obey the word of God, serve for the Church, the body of the Lord, and live a life of giving and giving to those around us, we hope that the Lord's amazing miracles will happen in our homes, businesses, and all of our lives. Will be.

Fourth, miracles are joy and faith.

Jesus' disciples saw the miracles that Jesus performed and gained faith.

[Jesus performed these first signs in Cana of Galilee and showed his glory, and his disciples believed in him] (John 2:11)

In this way, miracles bring joy, and this joy produces faith. When we hear the voice of God, when we experience miracles, and when we feel the love of Christ, we gain infinite joy and faith (John 15:11).

And this joy and faith must continue to be cherished.

After we find joy through miracles, we need to do better in our faith life. Just like those who receive Jesus in the midst of despair and suffering and get the joy of salvation and healing, but leave Jesus far away, we must not become those whose roots of faith are weak and cannot withstand the temptations of the world.

Even after receiving God's blessings, we should not give up our faith and work harder to find new joy by serving, sharing, and giving more diligently for the poor and needy.

Our church's motto this year is "double revival, double blessing". In order for us to “revive our belly,” we must double our prayers, reading the Bible, attending worship services, evangelism and giving. At that time, a double blessing will come upon us.

Jesus' first miracle took place at the wedding banquet, the beginning of a new family. Likewise, the first miracle in 1998 will also happen in your home. So, I pray in the name of the Lord that joy, happiness, health, and sharing may exist in your home, and that the love of faith and hope will always overflow.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, in the hopeful year of 1998, pray that our mod will always listen only to the voice of the Lord and live in hope. May the miracles of Jesus happen in every household of the saints. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen
