Title: The Fools of God

Contents

1 Corinthians 1:18-25 The foolishness of God

If you look at today's text,

“The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

That's right.

The way of the cross is utterly foolish and foolish to the people of the world.

In the eyes of the people of the world who are only looking for a wide and flat path, the image of the saints of faith following the path of the cross followed by the pain and suffering of the Lord and the lonely and arduous way of the cross would seem so foolish and foolish.

There's a wide road... There's a safe road... There's a comfortable road...

It's hard to walk the narrow, rough, arduous, thorny road of the cross.

And those who look at it criticize the saints of our faith as foolish and foolish,

Those who do not walk such a way of the cross say that they are truly wise, that they are good, that their decisions are right, and that they are truly intelligent.

But God says in verse 20:

“Where is the wise one? Where is the scholar, this generation, where is the scholar? Does not God make the wisdom of this world foolish?”

This means that God is speaking of the wisdom of the wise, and that he will destroy the understanding of the wise.

# Who is the wise one?

A person who denies the wisdom of God, believes in the wisdom of the world, and boasts only the logic, knowledge, and wisdom of the world.

Also, the wisdom of God has come and gone,

Aren't these people who believe that their own wisdom... and the wisdom of the world... are superior?

# Who else is the scholar?

Like the scribes and scribes of Judea, they are those who seek to be exalted and exalted in worldly learning, pretentiousness, and formality.

# So, who is the other person?

I am talking about the Greek philosophy that was developing at that time and the orators who were good at speaking.

Even today, philosophy can be said to be the best of the world's studies.

In a word, they do not accept God's Word by faith, but they interpret and evaluate God's Word according to their own will with philosophical logic and skillful speech.

In verse 20 of the text,

It is said that “God has made foolish the wisdom of the wise, the scholars and the scholars.”

The wisdom and knowledge possessed by humans have their limits.

Therefore, how can human beings realize the wisdom of God that transcends human wisdom?

Can you surpass that wisdom?

We need to know that we cannot know or understand anything, no matter how trivial, unless God teaches us to.

We humans are such insignificant and insignificant beings before God.

Therefore, God in his wisdom

To those who never knew or understood God

He was pleased to save those who believed through the foolishness of 'evangelism'.

This is for those of us who have completely lost the wisdom and ability to know God.

God has come to Himself and is opening the door to salvation.

This is God's love and grace.

We don't do anything, of course we can't, but it's a great testament to how much God loves us.

But, look at us.

In verse 22,

It is said that Jews seek signs and Greeks seek wisdom.

# The Jews are people who have been exposed to God's power...

Speaking today, we are talking about those who claim to be saints of faith who have been doing the Lord's work in the church community centering on the Word of God and have been in contact with the Word of God.

# Greeks are people of the world (gentiles of the faith), and they want the wisdom and knowledge of the world that fit the logic.

Also, prove it in a scientific way.

Today, we are people who have been deeply touched by the word of God like the Jews, and even though we have experienced His grace and love, we still do not fully believe and trust God, and we are seeking a sign, and the world's wisdom is You can see that they are ignoring the wisdom of God.

However, God did not reveal any signs or things that the world could understand to those who asked for these signs, but only preached the crucified Jesus Christ.

The Lord in Matthew

He said that he had nothing to show to those who asked for a sign except the sign of Jonah.

This is because the signs and miracles sought in unbelief are of no use no matter how much they show them.

Even today, through the ‘foolishness of evangelism’ to our believers,

We must not forget that we have a mission to preach the gospel to hardened and proud souls about the incarnation of Jesus Christ, His teachings, His sufferings, His atoning death, resurrection, and His Second Coming, derived from God's love and His love.

God says

For those who are called before God through Jesus Christ, both Jews and Greeks, Jesus Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

In other words, changing your heart through faith in Christ is the sign of the signs and the highest wisdom.

Jews and Greeks, believers and unbelievers alike, will discover in Jesus Christ the true power and wisdom that transcends the world.

Therefore, as verse 25 says,

“The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”

Today, I pray in the name of the Lord that you and I will all become believers in faith who can cry out the true gospel of God by holding on to and following God's foolishness with faith rather than the wisdom of the world.
