Title: The Forgiven / John 8:1-11
Content There was a woman in shame and trouble. caught in adultery Secretly trying to hide his shame, he was caught in the white wine. People caught her and took her to Jesus. Her accusers were the scribes and Pharisees, who kept and taught the law. They brought the woman and set her before Jesus. And they tested Jesus. "Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery. The law of Moses said that such a woman should be stoned. What would you say?" They were testing Jesus.
It's a tense time. The woman's life depends on Jesus' answer. Jesus bent down and was writing something on the ground with his finger. People surrounded him and urged him to answer. At this time, Jesus got up and said three things. It contains the essence of Christianity.
three words of jesus
First Word: He who is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at him.
1) The accusers return with a remorse of conscience.
- He admitted that he was not good enough to stone anyone.
- One by one, from adults to young people.
2) Here is the purpose of the law.
- convict of sin
- Desperate for one's own righteousness
- longing for salvation
“(Romans 3:10) As it is written, there is none righteous, not even one.”
Second Word: I do not condemn you to a woman.
1) This is the declaration of the gospel.
2) The gospel is to bring the condemned to life.
3) Jesus presented the law before, and the gospel here.
4) Those who justify themselves will see themselves through the law. Those who know themselves to be sinners forgive.
“(Romans 8:1) There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2), for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
Third Word: Go and sin no more.
1) Those who have been forgiven must turn. "never"
- You have to change your life from now on.
- Do not repeat past sins.
- Thank you for the forgiveness of sins and never sin again.
2) Two kinds of Christians
- A Christian who lives by duty
- A Christian who is moved by the grace of Christ
[Example] - The dedication of the saved
Mary Magdalene Possessed by Seven Demons and Healed by Jesus
- I was so grateful that my life that ended was healed.
- They served Jesus by giving their possessions (Luke 8:2).
- When Jesus was crucified, he came from Galilee and wept.
- When buried in a tomb, he did not leave the grave for a long time.
- At dawn on the third day, he came to apply spices on the body of the Lord.
- After seeing the risen Lord, he testified, "I have seen the Lord" (Luke 24:18).
- From the day he received grace from Jesus, he devoted himself completely.
Even the forgiven adulterous woman would have lived like this.

1. Let us fill our hearts with gratitude.
