Title: The Four Evidences of Jesus
1. The testimony of John the Baptist
The text proves that the Lord is the Messiah. The word ‘evidence’ appears the most in the text, which appears 12 times in the text alone. The first evidence is that of John the Baptist (verses 33-35). For the Jews at that time, the testimony of John the Baptist was great evidence. So, many of Jesus' disciples were the disciples of John the Baptist at first. An example of this is Andrew, Peter's brother. The evidence of John the Baptist, who was considered the greatest prophet at the time, may be considered shocking and the greatest evidence to Jews at the time, but the Bible says that it is the least evidence.
2. Evidence of amazing history
The greater evidence than that of John the Baptist is the amazing work of Jesus (verse 36). How did Christianity spread powerfully in the early church? This is because wherever the name of Jesus is preached, people have been given a new life, and those possessed by demons have been set free from demons. The name of Jesus is the source of the marvelous power to unveil the things that take hold of the soul and the body, and to release the souls that are bound by it. How many people today are mentally enslaved by the hatred, lethargy, and vain desires that bind people like ghosts? But the name of Jesus frees people from such spiritual redemption so that they can enjoy the joy of liberation.
3. God's Witness
The greater evidence than the miraculous work of Jesus is the evidence that God Himself is doing. The proof that God Himself is doing is the voice of God given to the saints, and that voice cannot be heard without faith (verses 37-38). When you hear a special voice, you must be able to discern whether that voice is really a voice from God. How do you know which voice is the voice of God? There are standards for that verification. The voice of the Holy Spirit overflows with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, the nine fruits of the Spirit of temperance, and humility and gratitude. On the other hand, if it is not the voice of the Holy Spirit, anxiety, irritability, worry, worry, complaint, dissatisfaction, hatred, envy, jealousy and anger arise.
4. Biblical Evidence
The evidence that synthesized the above three evidences is the Bible (verse 39). If you want to know the Lord deeply, do this. First, listen carefully to the testimony of the Lord from the forefathers of the faith. Second, experience the power in the name of Jesus. Third, listen to the Bible-centered Word of God proclaimed from the pulpit and the voice of God when you pray. Fourth, the most important thing is to be close to the Bible. Getting close to the Bible is the best way to bring all blessings closer.
God not only shows the way of salvation to those who come close to the Bible, but also shows them the way to overcome problems and despair, and grants them the blessed way to live a successful life. The Bible is God's greatest gift to man. Even if a book sells only a million copies, it is said to be a huge bestseller, but more than 100 million copies of the Bible are sold every year. If you draw close to that Bible, you will gain faith, wisdom, and power, and eventually you will receive the happiness of blessing.
What specifically does being close to the Bible mean? It is to acknowledge and view the Bible as the Word of God, and furthermore, to meet the Lord deeply through the Bible. A certain saint believed for the first time and followed all kinds of revival meetings to seek the Lord. And I received all the Bible study and training by Byeolbyulbyul, but as time went on, I became more and more exhausted. One day, I came home tired and looked at the Bible, and it seemed to me that the voice of the Lord was heard from the Bible. “Anyone! I am here, where did you find me like that?”
Those who do not look flashy, but who consistently meditate on the Bible and live according to its words have a higher maturity in faith and deep spirituality than anyone else. The person who knows the Lord best is not a Bible scholar, a doctor of theology, or a seminary student, but those who are close to the Bible and obey the words of the Bible. Without obedience, theological or biblical knowledge is meaningless. Be blessed people who taste the grace of God by placing importance on the minimum of actions rather than the maximum of shouts.
