Title: The Gift of Authority/Hebrews 3:13
Content Introduction ; In this day and age, ordinary people who need admonition and comfort are knocking on the doorsteps of fortune-tellers, in and out of churches, and even in counseling rooms. The reality is that there are many people in the world who are wounded and lead a weary body and are walking on a weary life path. At such a time, even in the church, people who are tired of life gather.
In these times, it is clear that the gift of authority is really necessary for the growth of the church. This gift of authority is the gift of exhortation and comfort, which corresponds to the office of a priest in the church. When they look at the church and look after new believers, the wounded, the sick and the suffering, they have a great effect in instilling zeal for the gospel.
1. Definition of the Gift of Authority
The authoritative gift is “the ability to visit the saints in need in the church with a loving heart, receive help and treatment through words of comfort and counsel, and encourage them and build them up.” In the Bible, Barnabas, who helped Paul and took the lead in missionary work, is expressed as the son of comfort.
Acts 4:36 “There was a Levite from Cyprus, whose name was Joseph, and the apostles called him Barnabas (which translates to authority).”
2. Characteristics of the Gift of Authority
In order to make the church a church full of love and harmony, officers must have this gift. In particular, when setting up a kwonsa, it is better not to make a standard based only on the fact that he has been in the church for a long time, but to first check whether he has the gift of authority and establish it.
Churches may face difficulties if they are guided by recognition to serve as the mother of prayer for members of the church.
This gift of exhortation said (Hebrews 3:13) to “exhort one another every day” and (Jude 1:3) said that he felt the need to exhort the saints. The more these gifts are in the church, the more loving the church will be (Romans 12:8, 1 Tim 4:13, Hebrews 3:13, 6:18, 10:25, Acts 14:22).
3. Self-diagnosis of the gifted messenger
The Greek word for the gift of authority is “paracareo,” which has been interpreted in various ways: “to invite, to pray, to entreat, to demand, to comfort, to admonish, to ask, to pray.”
This gift can be defined as the ability to straighten other members in the church by receiving help and healing through words of exhortation.
1) Comfort a brother or a neighbor who is in trouble, discouraged, or in trouble.
2) I strongly encourage believers who are wandering due to spiritual problems to be guided by the words of the Bible.
3) If you comfort a soul that is wounded and exhausted, you will feel the wound heal well.
4) Those who have sinned and their conscience is paralyzed and depend on alcohol, tobacco, drugs, etc. are encouraged to hold onto God and win well.
5) The church has the ability to discern the wounded and heal them based on the gospel.
4. Discernment of the Gift of Authority
2) Human talent = He has a social talent from the beginning, so he exhorts and comforts others, but comforts them with worldly words rather than God's words. Always based on your own past experiences.
3) Satan's imitation = He thinks he has been given the gift of authority. When faced with a test due to a problem in the church, they know it first and seek it out, but they cannot provide fundamental comfort. And when a problem arises, we try to find the root of the problem in ourselves and look for the problem in others rather than repent of our sins.
conclusion ; Now, I will summarize today's words.
The gift of authority is a gift given to the leading believers in the church, and it is mainly needed by elders, priests, management, and counselors. Let's become a worker who takes the lead in the growth of the Church of God by confirming with a heart of earnest prayer.
