Title: The gift of forgetting / Matthew 6:3~4
The gift of forgetting the content / Matthew 6:3~4
Key Verse: “When you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” (Matthew 6:3).
Word: A man died and was judged at the crossroads between hell and heaven. The Judge, Peter, looked over the man's entire life, but found no record of any good deeds. Then Peter asked the man. “I checked your life and there is no sign of any good deeds. I'm going to hell." Then the man confidently said: “Apostle Peter, I actually died in a car accident, and just before I died, I gave 500 won to the beggar when I crossed the overpass. But why do you say I didn't do good?" Peter was in a difficult position. But just as Jesus was passing by, he asked. “Jesus, what do you do when that person gives 500 won to a beggar once in his lifetime?”
Then Jesus said: “Hey, he’s got a lot of stains on one thing, Peter! Give me back 500 won and send me to hell.”
Our Lord takes the tea off it. To 'make a mark' is equivalent to saying that you have done a beautiful thing, but there is nothing to be found in heaven. In other words, you are joking about the Lord's teachings that you have already received on this earth. This means that I did not do it in the name of the Lord, but in my own name or for the sake of self-recognition. This means that all of this will be lost. That's why the Bible says, "Let the right hand do not know what the left hand has done." It is in line with the saying that if we do good things on this earth and receive praise and glory, we have nothing to receive in heaven.
The gift of forgetting is a beautiful thing. That doesn't mean we forget everything. Don't forget the love I received. Don't forget the grace I received from the Lord. But what you should definitely forget, forget what I have given you. That is true love, and it is truly a beautiful offering that is recorded in the heavenly storehouse. That's right. This era is called the era of self-PR. Avoid things to avoid, remember, and let people know what you want to know. If you live upside down, your life will be ruined. To shun is not to show off in the name of the Lord. But let me know what to tell. It is the work of the Lord itself and the glory of the Lord. Forget what I did. Forget about wanting to be recognized. The instinctive pride that we want to show to others is easily forgotten when we experience the gift of forgetting.
Prayer: God, do not be arrogant. Let me have the right faith. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
