Title: The Greatest News
Content The greatest news (Isaiah 11:1-10)
The best news for generations to come is the account of the birth of Jesus Christ, as the name suggests (Luke 2:10). There is no better big news than the birth of baby Jesus.
Isaiah 11 today prophesies the birth of Jesus. The text of Isaiah chapter 11 prophesies God's hope that the people of Israel will live through the coming of the Messiah through the prophet Isaiah in the midst of the desperate situation of the destruction of Judah. What channel does the Messiah come to this earth with the hope of history?
1. The humanity of Jesus (verse 1)
(1) He comes through the lineage of David. It is said that from the family of Jesse, a bud, a great person, comes out of his lineage. It is significant that the prophet Isaiah does not mention David but his father Jesse. A man named Jesse is David's father, implying that he is a lowly farmer and of no value. Isaiah does not speak of the famous, world-known 'King David', but of the unknown, the lowly, the little man Jesse. David said, "I am a poor and lowly man" (1 Samuel 18:23).
Humanly speaking, the Messiah is not a fancy family, and it tells us that he has nothing to be proud of. When you see that Jesus was born, he was born in a low and lowly stable, with nothing to be glorified or boasted about. Mary, the mother of Jesus, did not come from any famous aristocrat, but she was all lowly, and there was nothing to exalt. In this way, our Lord came in silence and without a name. So the Jews did not accept Jesus as their Savior. When we receive Jesus as our Savior, it does not come about through prosperity, by the will of the flesh, or by the will of man. It was sealed in the will of God. Therefore, the authority to become a child of God is great news. I hope you all live proudly of believing in Jesus throughout your life.
(2) Jesus is a person with humanity, and He is also a person with divinity.
Although he came from the trunk of Jesse and the root of Jesse in the flesh, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him (verse 2). The fact that God became human is the great news of hope for mankind. How comforting is the news that He is the Savior who takes care of all human suffering, sorrow, and pain? In Romans 15, the Apostle Paul gives the basis for Christian hope in a world where hope is fading away. He said that we have hope because the coming Messiah will correct, restore, and renew every wrong, perverted, and corrupt thing (Romans 15:12-13).
2. The divinity of Christ (v. 2)
(1) The coming of the Spirit of Jehovah
The ruler of the coming kingdom of God is Jesus Christ. He is filled with the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jehovah (v. 2). This signifies the divinity of Jesus Christ. There are many Bible verses that express the divinity of the Messiah, but two representative passages are Isaiah 9:6 and Micah 5:2.
(2) Christ makes us fear God (verse 3, first half).
Christ took pleasure in the fear of God. Therefore, Jesus Christ came to us and showed us how to live by believing in Jesus. He made us to fear God and to rejoice in the fear of Him. It is not for anything else that we truly fear God, but to do God's will.
3. Christ enables us to live righteous lives (verses 3-5).
Verses 3 to 5 reveal the disposition of Jesus Christ. The characteristics of these dispositions are essentially different from those of the ruler of the world. People are meant to live their own lives by their character.
(1) Christ judges righteously (verses 3-2-4)
In the world, people judge by their appearance, do lawlessness for their own benefit, and oppress the poor. But the Lord is not judging by outward appearance, but judging by justice. When we serve Jesus and live as saved people in Jesus, we can live a true life. We are not to be accepted by people, but to live so that we can be accepted by God. Our God does not judge by what we see and does not judge by what we hear with our ears. We should not judge by appearances, but by looking at the heart of people and making judgments with justice.
(2) Christ judges with honesty and judges with the word (verse 4)
In the world, we do not look inside a person, but judge only by the outward results. But our Lord looks at the motives of the heart. In the world, we have the power of the world to oppress and oppress others, but our Lord judges and condemns people with the words that come out of the mouth of God. The ?쁲tick of the mouth??in verse 4 means that the word controls the world (2 Thessalonians 2:8). We do not know how important knowledge of God is for any individual or nation. Individuals and nations who despise the knowledge of God are bound to live a life of hell (Hos. 4:6) .
??Christ works in justice and faithfulness (verse 5)
An obstacle to integrity is ignoring integrity. So the only time we can test whether sincerity is true is when we encounter the moment of truth. The fact that Jesus lived faithfully even in the crisis of being crucified is proof of who He is. A sincere person has the courage to not bend the truth. The more sincerity you add, the more courage you have to live a life of conviction.
The most courageous figure in biblical history was David, the son of Jesse. When Samuel was looking for a successor to Saul's throne, he chose David, the youngest shepherd, who came to Jesse's house and was ignored by his father. The standard was not the strength, height, or ability of David's unique personality, but the basis of his heart (1 Samuel 16:7). It was his faithfulness that earned David the confidence that he could lead God's people (Psalm 78:70-72). Although he led the people with skill, it was not his talent that gave him spiritual leadership.
3. Christ came to restore all things (verses 6-10).
(1) All relationships are restored through the Messiah who saves on this earth.
saying it will be. Verses 6-9 refer to paradise. It is saying that the Garden of Eden, where God first created and blessed the Garden of Eden, will be restored with the coming of the Messiah. This will be done in a new heaven and a new earth. It will be completed on the day our Lord comes again. In this way, the message of the Messiah contains all hope. The age in which we live has many problems. This world of peace will come true because of Jesus Christ.
(2) However, what must precede the coming of this kingdom of God is to be filled with the knowledge of God (verse 9).
Knowing God is very important. Whether or not you have this knowledge determines the fate of individuals as well as nations. A society without the knowledge of God becomes hell, and humans who reject it become like Satan. Then, what must we do in order for the knowledge of God to fill the whole earth? We must preach the gospel to the ends of the earth (Mark 16:15). I don't know unless I tell you. If we do not know the Gospel, mankind will always be unable to escape the despair of this earth. Only the gospel is the hope of mankind. Then, under whose name do you preach the gospel? Who are you talking to? We must preach Jesus in the name of Jesus Christ. We must make Jesus Christ our symbol for all people (verse 10).
Do you believe that Jesus is the Savior, the Son of God who came in human form?
If so, please believe that Jesus is now the ?쐄lag??in your life and me. Jesus came to this world as a 'banner for all people'! You have come as 'my flag' in particular. In the place where you can enjoy the birth of Jesus, I hope that you will once again have Jesus as the Lord of my life. So, I pray for the rest of my life to be the banner of my life, to be moved by the grace of salvation, to triumph proudly in the midst of suffering, and to become saints who strive to spread the gospel!
