Title: The History of God/Genesis 1:2

Genesis 1:2 The work of God

The earth was not created in the form it is today from when it was first created. The earth was initially created simply in the form of a mass of material, and only through God's six-day work of creation did it take on the shape it is today. This text is a description of the state of the primitive earth when it was first created, that is, the state of the earth before God created it as it is today. The text describes this state of the primitive earth as if it were very disordered and hopeless by using the words 'chaos', 'empty' and 'darkness', but by saying that "the God of God was operating on the surface of the water," such a disorder and hopeless situation It hints that the earth will be made beautiful by being overcome by this God.

1. land

What kind of land are we talking about here? Shall we talk about the land we live in now? Or would you say another land?

We can think of the ground we walk on in three main ways. The first is the earth in the state of the primitive earth before God made the earth beautiful, the second is the land we live in, and the third is the new heaven and new earth that God has prepared for us. The most important earth for us is the new heaven and new earth. The land referred to in the text refers to the land in the state of the proto-Earth, which is the first of these three.

When we think of land, we can think of many things, but the first thing that comes to mind is real estate speculation and houses. Our present dwelling place is a house on this earth. Ex) People without and people with

When we stand before God, this land is holy, this land is beautiful, and everyone who treads on this land is blessed.

2. Confused and empty

First, to be chaotic means to be chaotic and disorganized. In other words, it refers to a wasteland that has been neglected.

Second, to be empty means to be empty. In other words, it is desolate and empty.

So, what are we going to think about here? It is the fact that where there is no work of God, there is only chaos and emptiness. The first half of the text describes it as “the earth was formless and empty, and darkness is over the deep.” This is a depiction of the state immediately after God created the universe and before he made the earth as beautiful as it is today. Indeed, there was no order and no life on the earth before God worked and made it beautiful. There is only disorder, darkness, and silence.

Where there is no God's work and intervention, there is only chaos and emptiness. Jeremiah looked at Israel where God was not working, and said, “I saw the earth, and it was void and empty.” That's right. Where there is no work of God, there is no true beauty, no joy, no satisfaction, no hope.

The same applies to the human mind and soul. In other words, without God's work and intervention, the soul and mind are polluted with sin and are in disorder and desolation. Their minds are corrupt as they are corrupted and corrupt as they are corrupted. So there is no great spirit or noble thought to be found in them. And their souls delight in darkness more than light, lies more than truth, injustice more than justice, and glorify them with shame. In short, their souls are full of filthy desires and pleasures. Their souls eventually perish. Therefore, the most important thing for us is to open our hearts and receive God's Spirit, the Holy Spirit, so that God can come and work in us.

3. Darkness, God's Spirit, Sleep, Operation

Darkness is a word that blends with chaos and void. This darkness refers to darkness, and the state of the primitive earth at that time was disordered, empty, and even darkness, showing how much the state of the primitive earth was compared to the present earth. The fact that the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, is at work on the surface of the water when we are in this state gives us a feeling of tremendous power and God's love.

conclusion

Dear members of Eunpyeong,

The pristine earth seemed hopeless and lifeless, in chaos, emptiness, and darkness until God specifically ordered it and adorned it with beauty. However, even such an earth could become the most beautiful star in the universe, full of vitality, order and beauty when God was working. Likewise, if our souls are not with God, they will fall into sin and be in chaos, emptiness, and hopeless darkness, but if God is with them, they will gain life, lead a beautiful and dynamic life, and a glorious future is guaranteed. In the name of the Lord, I declare that you will not live a life that is repeated day by day without meaning and no thought, but that you will always taste God's work.
