Title: The Holy Spirit and Miracles

“But do not rejoice that the demons submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20).

"Jesus answered and said, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, but there is no sign to be seen except the sign of Jonah the prophet. As Jonah was in the belly of a great fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the earth three days and three nights" (Matthew 12). :39-40)

A miracle is an event in which an event that man cannot do by ordinary means, that is, natural order, has been realized or accomplished by a special method, that is, supernatural means. Therefore, miracles are not phenomena or events that are caused by the power of man itself or by some force of natural order, but by forces other than humans or supernatural forces.

We also call miracles signs, wonders, and wonders.

At the time of Jesus, the Jews were miracle seekers.

“Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek wisdom” (1 Corinthians 1:22).

In particular, the Pharisees and scribes not only pursued miracles, but also demanded that Jesus show them signs. These were sign seekers.

"Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said, "Teacher, we want you to show us a sign" (Matthew 12:38)

“And others put Jesus to the test, asking for a sign from heaven” (Luke 11:16).

"Then the Jews answered and said to Jesus, What sign will you show us, that you are doing these things?" (John 2:18)

They were people who did not believe unless they saw signs and wonders. Jesus deplored this fact.

"Jesus said, "Unless you see signs and wonders, you will never believe" (John 4:48).

At some point, Korean Christianity began to degenerate into a miracle-seeking type, a miracle-oriented church. Miracle-seeking meetings that report the Holy Spirit movement, the gift movement, the healing movement, and the testimony meeting have swept away most churches and prayer centers. I did.

The Korean church now seems to have transformed into a new, third religion that is not a church, another strange religion that smells of Christianity.

Like the miracle seekers who were severely rebuked by Jesus, the Pharisees and scribes, Korean Christians are calling out to Jesus to show signs, miracles, and wonders. Thousands of souls who know nothing of the truth are wandering around the mountains and fields, from church to church, from building to building, from square to square like a sleepwalker, trying to experience the signs.

If someone heals a disease somewhere, they flock to that place. When a sign occurs in a certain church, they flock to that place again. If they go to a certain meeting and the fire of the Holy Spirit falls, they will come again. If someone tells you that they have come and goes, they will come again, and if someone tells you that they can predict the future, they will run again. If they claim and propagate signs and knights, and deceive souls with false signs and false knights, they have nothing to fear. There is nothing bad about it. In the end, they are deceived and destroy the family and the soul.

There are many miraculous events in the Bible. First, the miracles (supernatural) events in the Old Testament.

These are miraculous events in the New Testament.

In addition to these, in the New Testament, the appearance of angels, the praise of the angels, instructions from angels, the help of angels, instructions through dreams, the birth announcement of John the Baptist, Zacharias, who was temporarily mute, the conception of Mary, the star that guided the wise men, Jesus Countless miraculous events are recorded, such as the events that occurred at the time of baptism, the events of the Mount of Transfiguration, the events of Pentecost, the herd of pigs that drowned in the lake, and the resurrection and ascension of Jesus.

Because there are so many miraculous events in the Old and New Testaments, it is natural for miracles to occur even now, and believers should long for miracles, pursue miracles, and experience miracles for the sake of faith. How wrong these ideas and claims are, let's look at what the Bible teaches about miracles.

First, the teachings about the miracles of Jesus.

Jesus is a miracle, as we know. This is because God, who existed from eternity, took on flesh, came to this earth, died and rose from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, and will return again. Isn't everything about him a miracle? The fact that God took on a human body, that He lived on this earth as a human being, that He rose from the dead three days later, that He ascended into heaven, and that He came again are all miracles. He performed many miracles while on this earth. Healed the 38-year-old man, the leper, the deaf, the paralyzed, the blighted, the epilepsy, and the demon-possessed, and calmed the storm and the raging sea. He was the one who walked on the sea, fed 5,000 men with five fish, left them in twelve baskets, and raised the dead only son of the widow of Nain and Lazarus who had been dead for three days.

But Jesus taught us a lesson about miracles:

First, Jesus rebuked the miracle-seeking Jews.

"Jesus said, "Unless you see signs and wonders, you will never believe" (John 4:48).

"Jesus answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, but there is no sign to be shown except the sign of Jonah the prophet" (Matthew 12:39)

Second, Jesus cast out demons and did not rejoice at the miracles that happened to the rejoicing disciples, but they were saved so that they could become children of God.
