The illusion of two rich men (Luke 12:16-21, 16:19-31)
Today's text tells the story of two people who made a big mistake in their lives and failed. They were both very rich. seemingly successful. But he was a fool who had his life wrong. That is why this story is often referred to as the “parable of the rich fool.” So, what caused the two rich people to have such a failed life? because of an illusion. There are many, but I can narrow it down to three. This is the so-called 'the three biggest misconceptions of the foolish rich'
1. The rich man mistakenly thought that life was going his way.
They thought life was going their way. I thought that if I planned it and put in my own effort, it would happen. However, that is an illusion. Even my life is not what I want it to be. It doesn't work out the way I try. It's my life, but it's not my will, it's God's will. Even my life is in God's hands. If you think about it, there is nothing to claim as 'my life' as my life. How does my life really work? It moves according to the will of God, according to the providence of God. Psalm 127:1-2 “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman watches in vain. Now that this is my life, please don't let the illusion that if you live as you please, you will be fine. I want you to keep God in the center of your heart and always live according to His will. So, I wish you the safest and most blessed life for the rest of your life!
2. It was thought that material things gave rest to the soul. I thought material things gave me happiness.
He thought about making a lot of money and enjoying life. Verse 19. “And I said to my soul, ‘Soul, since you have many goods laid up for many years to come, rest, eat, drink, and be merry. I did. But that is an illusion. Having a lot doesn't make you happy. Humans are made up of body and soul. The things of the world can satisfy the body. But the soul cannot be content with worldly things. Upside down. When the soul prospers, all things prosper. Physical satisfaction is temporary. It's good for a while and then drinks So we can say this. Happiness is not sexual. It's not even property. Not even a position. Only happiness is faith. It is faith. Keep this fact in mind and I hope you will be happy because you have faith. The soul must be well. Matter does not satisfy the soul.
3. The two rich men forgot death and lived.
Verse 20. "God said, "You fool, tonight your soul will be required of you, and whose will you have prepared?" Death took everything from him. I had no choice but to leave behind all that wealth, all the things I enjoyed, my family and friends... And then into the afterlife. Hell. We need to keep that in mind. There must be death and then judgment. Since the body came from the dust, it returns to the dust, and the soul is judged before God and enters the next world. Hebrews 9:27 There is a saying, “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” “Illusion is free!” Yes. However, you should know that the result is entirely yours. The rich man in today's Bible text was mistaken about the most important problem in life. As a result, life was a complete failure.
We must never make this mistake. Please, I hope that you and I will have God as the master of our lives and live for our souls. Believe that there is heaven and hell, and I hope you risk your life to evangelize not only you but also those you can influence so that you can go to heaven.
