Title: The Joyful Servant

Contents

2007.03.11 Word

2 Timothy 1:15 ~ 1:18

The word “pleasant” is the Greek word “anafshiko,” which means to revive by blowing in a new wind.

Those who serve are taken care of and supported. (Genesis 14:4) It means that they give their best. When we face difficult adversity while living in today's difficult world, it is our neighbors and true saints who inspire us with strength and courage.

We should be those who give courage and lead when we become frustrated and weak while working for the Lord.

First, true believers must be comforters (verses 12-13).

As an evangelist, Paul became a prisoner (verse 8), but because he was entrusted with the mission as an evangelist by trusting and relying on God and Jesus Christ. While emphasizing the true doctrine, he also exhorted Timothy to faithfully follow his teachings.

Second, if you are a true saint, you must not become a traitor (verse 15).

Paul traveled a lot in Asia for evangelism. (Asia at the time of Paul is not the Asia of today, but the southwest of the coast of the Roman Empire, which is the limit of the Roman Empire.) Especially since he was in Ephesus for more than 3 years (Acts 20) :31) Many people must have known him, but all the people in Asia betrayed and abandoned Paul.

Not all the saints betrayed him, but he emphasized the sadness that many of the saints had abandoned.

Paul was taken to court, taken to Rome, and imprisoned in a crypt, and everyone abandoned him and left.

Among them, Bougello and Hermogenes, who faithfully helped Paul in his evangelism, betrayed the Apostle Paul and left. They left the stigma of dirty traitors.

Third, true believers must give them new strength (courage) (verses 16-18).

As Paul was thinking about it, he said, "While he was in Rome, he searched for me diligently and found me" (verse 17).

That is why, whenever he thought of Onesimus, he thanked God and asked God to have mercy on his house.

During extremely difficult times, the Apostle Paul gained strength and courage from the layman, Onesipus.

We, too, should strive to achieve a life that will be remembered in the hearts of God and our neighbors through love and good deeds, like Onesiphorus, when the clergy are having difficulties and the saints. :2)

Conclusion We should give others strength and courage and become comforters. Also, I hope that you will not become a traitor like Bougelo and Hermogenes, but that you will be remembered by God and your neighbors through love and good deeds to those in need like Onesiphorus.
