Title: The Kingdom and Righteousness of God
Matthew 6:24-34
Why are shameful things constantly happening in human life?
It is because I want to possess, enjoy, and do what I want more than anything beyond the limits that God has created. They are neither ignorant of human limitations nor the problems that amplification of desire presents to mankind, but when they are trapped in a certain depth, they do not know what they are doing or what they should do, and are heading towards death.
Most of the catastrophes that have hit mankind are self-inflicted. Despite this, he lives without knowing what he is doing because he is possessed by the ghost of development and growth. When a problem arises due to human error, we find a way to solve the problem by overcoming countless sacrifices to solve it. However, another problem arises, and he makes great sacrifices to unravel the clues to the solution.
It was the same in the time of Jesus. So Jesus concludes that man cannot serve God and wealth at the same time. In Hebrew, the words to love or to like are understood to be comparable. But here Jesus brings down the monocular. You must serve, love, and like God only with an absolute attitude, not more.
There is a reason why people cannot serve only God. How can we eat, drink, and live if we only serve God? That is why we love God, but we love God even though we have less wealth.
But Jesus spoke in a clear tone. All the animals and plants we can see live without rioting like us humans. There's nothing we're concerned about that would change anything. God already knows our needs.
Therefore, what Christians really seek is the kingdom of God and the will of God. God gives all kinds of good things to those who live for the kingdom of God.
In fact, those who live for the kingdom and righteousness of God cannot have ferocity or desire. How can people who live for the sake of others become slaves to what desires and be filled with worries and worries?
At noon on March 1, 1919, 92 years ago, our ancestors, who had suffered under Japanese oppression and takeover, stood up proclaiming the independence and independence of their country. Today is the Samil Day commemoration service to reflect, commemorate, and give thanks to the Samil Independence Movement.
The Samil Independence Movement continued until the end of April and spread nationwide. Lim Jong-guk's Record of the Annals of the Pro-Japanese faction recorded that there were 1214 demonstrations for national independence in two months. Thanks to such a national independence movement and God's providence, the whole nation was able to enjoy the joy of liberation on August 15, 1945.
According to Park Eun-sik’s The History of the Korean Independence Movement, more than 2 million people participated in the Samil Independence Movement, which killed 7,509 people, injured 15,850 people, and arrested 45,306 people. It is said that there were two. This movement for national independence was rooted in the spirit of the patriotic people who loved the country and loved the nation.
Through the voluntary devotion and sacrifice of Christians who were concerned about the safety of the nation in the Samil Independence Movement, they made a great history and gave glory to God.
Despite the weak Christian age at that time, Christian leaders such as Lee Seung-hoon played a key role in launching the Samil Independence Movement. In particular, Christians played a decisive role in the preparation and organization of this movement, and in the participation of the whole nation. According to the records at that time, 16 out of 33 people who signed the Declaration of Independence as representatives of our nation were Christians, and 24 out of 48 who were central to the preparation for the event were Christians.
The Samil Independence Movement clearly exemplifies the mission and role of Christians for us living in this age. This movement is guiding us away from the short-sighted attitude of caring only for ourselves, our family, and our church to a national and patriotic perspective. The spirit of the great Samiljeol festival that this nation achieved during the Samil Independence Movement can be found in today's Bible as well. The life of seeking the kingdom of God and righteousness is none other than the Triune Spirit. Let's spread this spirit and attitude of life in real life.
