Title: The Life of Psalm 23
Contents Elder Hong-Kyung Kang lived a happy life and passed away. After showing an example of faith to the end, he went to God. The elder's life was like the words of Psalm 23, and then he went to heaven.
Elder Gangnam-cheol, the son, said, “Father, you have to eat well and get up strong.” When I said this, my father said, “No. Now I have to lie down like this for a while and then go to the Lord.” Everyone is afraid of death. However, the elder clearly said that he should lie down like this for a while and then go to God's side because he was certain of the eternal kingdom of God. What precious example have you set?
After the late night prayer meeting, he went to visit three hours before his death. We sang hymns together and read Psalm 23. He was unconscious, but he seemed to be hearing something. I felt myself singing along to the hymn with my tongue.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside still waters. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death...
The elder lived his life following Jesus, the shepherd. So, in the life of the elder, he lived like Psalm 23. God was laid down in green pastures, and led to still waters. So there was always peace on the elder's face.
And a few hours before he died, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Because of this faith, my face shone like an angel until the moment I was finally embraced by the Lord. He kept his faith until the end and was embraced by God.
I believe that the elder, who was led by the Lord and embraced in the Lord's arms, experienced the grace of giving a reward. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. I believe that the grace of dwelling forever in the house of the Lord has come.
We do not know when God will come. We want our life itself to be the life of Psalm 23.
Old age, disease and death are “three signs of the futility of life.” It made me realize that there is no escape from suffering because of the absolute ephemeral nature. When the future Buddha, in deep agony, once again went out of the court, one of the gods appeared before him in the form of a wandering saint. The prince, seeing the quietness, thinks that he can be freed from the sufferings of this world through meditation. Shortly thereafter, Siddhartha began a wandering ascetic life, leaving behind his wife and children.
The Buddha realized an important problem in life. old age, disease, and death. It is a problem we cannot solve on our own. But those who live the life of Psalm 23 do not feel transitory through old age, disease, or death. “Surely goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will stand in the house of the Lord forever.” Life is fleeting without us, but because of Jesus, we believe that those who live the life of Psalm 23 will be filled with hope. Elder Hong-Kyung Kang lived the life of Psalm 23. We also want to live the life of Psalm 23. The world says that life is fleeting, but we believe that God will give us hope.
