The life of the saved - the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20)/⑪
“wFinally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the power of his might, and put on the full armor of God so that you may be able to resist the schemes of the devil. Our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but between principalities and powers and the rulers of the world of this darkness and the spirits of evil in the heavens. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and after you have done everything, you will be able to stand. Stand therefore, girded with the truth, girded with the breastplate of righteousness, and put on the sandals of the gospel of peace, having over all things the shield of faith, thereby consuming all the spears of the most wicked, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is God take the word of With all prayers and prayers, pray in the Holy Spirit at all times, watch for this, and make every effort to ask, asking for the sake of many saints, and for me, please give me the word, so that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mysteries of the gospel. I have become an ambassador in chains for the sake of this, so that I may be bold in what I have to say in this matter.”
Opening Hearts - A Mature Life/Sculptor Rodin has failed the French National Academy of Fine Arts three times. So, he became a silversmith by hoguchi. To eat, he worked hard every day. One day, a colleague advised, “Don’t make only the visible leaves, but create the inner ones.” At that moment, Rodin was shocked. It was pointed out that I hadn't even thought about it until then. In fact, he lived up to that point, focusing only on what he saw in order to live. He finally began to create works with the eyes that see the inside. And 24 years later, the immortal masterpiece ‘The Thinker’ was finally released. Everyone is preoccupied with what they see. That's why you lose more precious and invisible things. This is the misfortune of modern people.
Introduction - The world we live in shows that there is a visible world and an invisible world. It cannot be denied that there is a material world such as mountains, rivers, stones, and pine trees visible in June, and rain substances such as air, wind, and electricity are invisible to the naked eye. Likewise, in our religious life, there are physical things that are visible, but there are also spiritual things that are not visible. It is true that we believe that worshiping, singing hymns, and praying is a visible physical act, but we believe that God, angels, and devils are invisible but spiritual beings. So today's text is telling us something very important to those who believe in God. In today's text, there are several important words. Among them, the word "devil's tricks" and "the whole armor of God" appear. So what is the devil and what does scheming mean?
The devil is called diabolos, which means 'disruptor'. In other words, it is also called Satan, which means “adversary, someone who opposes.” In the New Testament, it is also called the father of lies, a murderer, the ruler of the world, and the one who holds the power of the air. In 2 Corinthians 11:14, Satan sometimes describes himself as an ‘angel of light’. Then what will the devil do toward the world? To explain in a little more detail, in the Old Testament, Satan
First, they disobey the word of God. They approach Adam and Eve living happily in the Garden of Eden and try to destroy and take away our happiness. In Genesis 3, Satan disguises himself as a serpent and approaches Adam and speaks. When God tells him not to eat the forbidden fruit, he becomes like God, but he disobeys the word and eats it. Second, it loses power. Through the Bible, Satan teaches that Samson, who was a merchant, loses his strength by a woman named Delilah, and eventually becomes blind and spends his last miserable life. Third, it weakens the mind. One day, Saul asks a witch to call the dead Samuel. So Satan disguises himself as the dead Samuel and speaks with Samuel's voice. Here Saul is deceived.
In the New Testament, first, we try to prevent us from fulfilling our mission.
When Jesus was about to do the ministry of his public life, he tempted them and made them fall.
Second, they sell Jesus. You can see Judas Iscariot selling Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
Third, Satan makes you betray. Jesus' disciple, Peter, is in a corner and betrays Jesus.
So far, we can see two people who have not fallen by Satan. In the Old Testament, they are Joseph, and in the New Testament, they are Jesus. Satan also approaches Joseph. At that time, Joseph's appearance was enough to interest anyone. And he was young, decent, and full of charm. So, when Potiphar, her husband, left the house, his wife took advantage of this opportunity to seduce Joseph. Suddenly, he approached Joseph and put his arms around him. Then he leans back and hugs him and speaks. “If you sleep with me, your success is guaranteed, and your future will be as bright as a rainbow.” Then he pulls Joseph to keep coming closer. Young Joseph leaves the house, leaving behind the clothes that are unshakably tugging. It's a consequential story, but later on, you'll be imprisoned. However, God did not let Joseph stand by and let him be the prime minister of Egypt at the age of 30.
In the New Testament, we see Jesus as we know him well. He faces three temptations. First, we are tempted by the flesh. One of the most unbearable things for a hungry person is eating. The devil tells Jesus to make bread out of stones. The hungry crowd is fed 5,000 with five loaves and two fish. But Jesus does nothing for himself. The second is to jump off the top of the temple. This can be called a kind of lust for honor. If a person can live in this world, many people fall for fame. Third, it is spiritually tempting. While showing the whole world, the devil tells Jesus that he will give him all these things if he bows down to him. When Jesus was tempted by these three temptations, the words he said while resisting the devil were, first, that man does not live on bread alone, but on the word of God. Second, he said not to put the Lord your God to the test, and thirdly, Satan, retreat go! Pay attention to the Lord your God and serve him only!
The devil always approaches sweetly.
The devil sometimes disguises himself as an angel of light. That is why, if the devil puts his mind to it, there is no one who will not fall. If there is a person in this world who does not fall under the temptation of the devil, that person will be able to stand tall in the center of history.
