Title: The Light Word (2 Peter 01:12-21)
Content The Word is the bread of life in faith. Without the Word, we cannot grow into true faith. Let's take a look at how to learn these words and how to deal with them through the text.
I. Words to be taught (12-15)
People spend their entire lives learning something from someone. Good or bad, people learn throughout their lives. If you meet a good teacher and continue to learn good education, it is a great blessing.
1. Teaching the truth to be repeated (12,15)
Verse 12 says, “Therefore, although you know these things and stand on the truth that you already know, I always try to remind you.” And in verse 15, “I do my best to remind you of these things when you need them, even after I have left. The church members already knew the truth. That's why verse 12 says 'the truth already exists'. However, knowing the truth does not mean that everything in your life of faith is over. That is why Peter is admonishing us to continually remember the truth. Even those who already know the truth of the Lord are prone to succumbing to worldly lusts and temptations. Therefore, you can overcome all temptations by keeping the truth of the Lord in your heart over and over again.
In pedagogy, it is said that repeated learning increases the educational effect.
2. The teacher's sense of duty (13-14)
In verses 13-14, “I consider it right to remind you to think while I am in this tent, for I know that I am about to leave this tent, as our Lord Jesus Christ has instructed me.” While we live in the tent of the flesh, that is, until we die, we will carry out the mission of awakening souls with this gospel. This is the attitude of a faithful worker. This attitude is the attitude of a faithful worker who values the Lord's Day more than his life and does his best in teaching until he dies. This attitude will be praised by the Lord.
II. Waiting for a new day (16-19)
Peter is talking about his experience on the Mount of Transfiguration.
