Title: The Living God That Peter Enlightened
Content Q: Matthew 16: 16-17 Title: The living God that Peter realized
This is the fourth sermon on the existence of God, and even before we hear the sermon, we believe that God lives. But this belief is not knowledge or thought, but a relationship. As David confessed, “Psalm 23:1, The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.” It is true faith that we have a real relationship with God so that there is nothing lacking in David because God lives.
1. His personal work 16 out of 16
“Living God” In Korean, He is a living God, but as a rational person, there are cases in which survival is ignored because of the inability to judge and confirm. We cannot hear the voice of the living God with our ears (John 5:37, Deuteronomy 5:25), we cannot see him (1 John 4:12, John 1:18), and we cannot approach the living God for fear (Ex 19). :16). “Living” is an expression that can be translated as one who is full of immanent life and lives forever (John 5:26; 1 Thessalonians 1:9). Since God is the Eternal Self (Exodus 3:14-15), he is the God of past history and the one who works in the hearts of the saints in the eternal present (26:63). We must confess that God lives with the same faith as Peter did.
2. Becoming the Savior’s Father
3. Spiritual guidance 17~
“Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona, . . . is not flesh, but my Father who is in heaven.” Peter (John 1:42), who was at the beginning, did not call a new name, but called his previous name “Simon Bar-Jonah.” Simon, who was a fisherman in the Sea of Galilee, confessed his true faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, not because of his wisdom, status, or excellence such as knowledge, but because of the grace of God as the second half of the verse says. 1 Corinthians 2:13 . . . Spiritual things are discerned by spiritual things.” “Blessed are you” is a declaration of God's blessing that goes beyond the level of praise and is not limited to material things (Luke 5:6-7), and it was the grace of a special revelation from a holy God.
[Conclusion] The existence of the living God is not hidden only in the human conception, but He is personally working. Therefore, Peter believed that Christ was the Father, and the Lord commended him. The most precious blessing is faith that God lives and that He is the Father of Christ.
