43. And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the ordinance of the Passover: Gentiles shall not eat.

44. Every slave bought with money shall eat after being circumcised.

47. All the congregation of Israel shall observe this.

48. If any foreigner who is living with you wants to celebrate the Passover of the Lord, then all the males must be circumcised and approach them to keep it, so that he will become like a native, but the uncircumcised shall not eat.

Subject: The Lord's Supper and Emmanuel

Text: Exodus 12:43-51, Luke 22:14-20

‘World Communion Sunday’ originated from a meeting of pan-Christian denominations (Catholic Church, Protestant Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Anglican Church) held in Lima, the capital of Peru, in January 1982. [Lima Documents] containing the results of agreements through reflection on the Christian sacraments (baptism and the Lord's Supper) and mission has been published. An important topic in this meeting was the form of worship in primitive Christianity. The focus of attention was on the worship form of the Gobtic Church, which was not known to the world after it was occupied by Islam and became an Islamic culture. This is because the Gobtic Church, which had kept their faith alone, preserved the original form of worship in the early church. It was a short sermon that lasted about 4 hours and a service of a rich dinner. You will learn that both the Mass-centered Catholic worship and the Word-centered Protestant worship are outside the original worship service. In the spirit of practicing enlightenment, we have decided to keep ‘World Communion Sunday’.

The night before Jesus was crucified, the Passover supper he had with his disciples in Mark's upper room was the beginning of the Eucharist. The Passover is based on what happened in the land of Goshen, Egypt, around 1446 B.C.E. That same thing there that day also happened at night. On the night when all the firstborn of Egypt were killed, only the Israelites escaped death. It is the result of following the word of God given through Moses, the man of God (Exodus 12:1-14). The Egyptians who disobeyed God's will were put to death, and the Israelites who obeyed God's word were saved. The experience of salvation that night is a historical event that is mentioned whenever the identity of the chosen people of Israel is mentioned along with the event of the Red Sea. It is an event that is mentioned whenever we need to talk about God's salvation, of course, when we need to talk about Israel's mission. It is believing and following the word of God.

If the Passover is a ordinance that God commanded His people like this (Exodus 12:43-51), the Lord's Supper is a ordinance commanded by the Savior Jesus to His people (Luke 22:14-20). The Lord's Supper is a holy ceremony along with baptism as a ceremony that contains the important meaning of Christian soteriology. As it is an important ceremony, there have been many positions in understanding its meaning. There are incarnation theory, commemorative theory, sacramental presence theory, etc. It is not easy to understand all the holy meanings. It is reminiscent of the names of the Lord's Supper in Christian history. ‘Lord Supper’, ‘Holy Communion’, ‘Sacrifice of Thanksgiving’ (Eucharist), etc. What is clear is the wonder of God's love and grace contained in the Lord's Supper. It is a grace that transcends intention.

It is clear that the grace and blessing of the Lord's Supper in the New Testament era will be greater than the grace and blessing God gave to the people of Israel in the Passover of the Old Testament. This is because we are reminded of the grace and blessings contained in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as the grace and blessings of the ascension and second coming. The supreme and supreme grace recorded in the Bible is Emmanuel. “God is with us” (Immanuel) is the highest of all grace on earth and in heaven (Isaiah 7:14; Matt. 1:23). The reality of true love is ‘being together’. It is the reality of love that encompasses the earth and the heavens. This is the answer to the question How? We will call it ‘as the holy will of the Lord’s Supper’. This is one of the core words of Darakbang strengthening (John 14:16-21). Immanuel is the spiritual reality of the Lord's Supper.
