Title: The Lord's Supper is Grace
content />
Ephesians 2:8-10
bsp; Today? It's a take-off Sunday. Our church is on the first week of even-numbered months? Originally, the early church held every Sunday? The origin of the Sunday worship comes from the Holy Communion service. It is a liturgy to remember the death of Jesus on the cross. And it is a liturgy to give thanks for being saved by that grace. At the same time, it is the most important liturgy to receive the grace of forgiveness of sins and be born again. I hope that all the saints participating in this sacrament today will come to this sacrament with this kind of faith. I bless all the saints who participate in such a faith that they will be filled with the Holy Spirit and have the grace of healing and restoration.
bsp; Today's text is very simple, but it contains the entire doctrine of salvation. I read it from verse 8, but you have to start from verse 1. In verses 1 to 10, we are talking about why we must be saved, how to be saved, and how to live a saved person.
bsp; 1. Why do we need to be saved?
bsp; You, who were dead in trespasses and sins, made you alive. 2:1
We are declaring our lives dead. Man is not just a physical being. Man was created in the image of God and has a soul in him. Therefore, man lives the true life in relationship with God, and in it, the soul breathes, rests, and enjoys the true life. It is a life that has lost God, a life that has lived but is dead. It is a fallen life, a dead life that breathes but has lost its true breath. Morality cannot restore it. Knowledge cannot be restored. It cannot be recovered by anything. It is restored only by restoring our relationship with God. Living in a relationship with God--because that is the original form of man and ‘being human’.
bsp; 2. How should we be saved?
Salvation means restoring our relationship with God and becoming the covenant people of the kingdom of God. It is Jesus Christ who came to the world and carried the cross to restore our relationship with God. The grace of atonement and the grace of restoration will come to anyone who believes in this grace. That is why it is said in Text 2:8.
bsp; By grace you have been saved through faith 2:8
① By that grace -- ‘By the grace of Jesus on the cross’, these are the words.
② Through faith -- ‘by your confession of realizing grace and responding to it’.
No matter how much Jesus took up the cross and took on all our sins, the grace cannot enter those who do not acknowledge that fact. Even if it rains like a waterfall, if the lid is closed, water cannot get in. The grace of Jesus is infinite, but only when we believe in His grace and open our hearts to receive it, grace will come to our hearts.
bsp; Just because human beings respond in this way for the work of salvation to take place, does not mean that we can boast of our human deeds. Because all of them do not come from us, but are entirely gifts of grace from God. What we did is to say, “Amen! I believe!” and received that grace in its entirety.
bsp; This is not from you, it is a gift from God.
bsp; It is not of works, so that no one can boast. 8-9
bsp; 3. How should a saved person live?
bsp; Those who have received forgiveness of sins through the grace of Jesus on the cross become healed, restored, and regenerated. Those who are born again in this way bear the fruits of being born again. The fruit is said to be ‘good works’.
we are what he made
bsp; created in Christ Jesus for good works... 10
What is 'good work'? 1 Peter 4:11 says this.
bsp; If anyone speaks, let them speak as if they were speaking the word of God.
bsp; If anyone wants to serve, do it with the strength God provides.
bsp; This is so that God may be glorified in everything through Jesus Christ...
Whatever you do in the name of Jesus, it is a good thing. Anything you can do in the name of Jesus, that is a good thing. It is a good thing to do to anyone, whatever you do, in the name of Jesus, as you do it to Jesus, out of love for Jesus. A Christian is said to have been created for good works. “We are what he has made. created in Christ Jesus for good works…”
bsp; Through today?, I hope that it will be a time of grace to wash away the tired and dirty spirits of the world, to illuminate the darkened soul with the light of grace, and to heal the wounded soul and the body weakened by suffering. And I bless you to become beautiful Christians who bear a lot of ‘good fruit’.
