Title: The Lord Is My Refuge.
Contents Saints who love God who is the shield! Psalm 91 is written about God as a refuge and fortress. Knowledge of God's providence and its application are of great benefit to us. We must observe the reverence for God's rule and providence. No one can think rightly about the providence of God except those who fear God. But God's providence does not undermine our responsibility.
Confidence in His providence helps us in all adversity. When we have this confidence, we are gladly trusting in God.
First, the psalmist speaks of the God he trusts (Psalm 91:1-6).
The poet's faith shows absolute trust in God (Psalm 91:3-6). He dwells under the shadow of the Almighty. God is his refuge, fortress (Psalm 91:2), shield (Psalm 91:4), and protector (Psalm 91:11,12).
Second, the psalmist speaks of the work of angels (Psalm 91:11,12).
Angels obey God's commands to protect the saints. Of course, angels are creatures (Ps. 148:2-5; Col. 1:16). The Bible does not mention when they were created, but apparently it does not mention when they were created before man, but apparently they were created before man (Job 38:7). In Hebrews they are described as ‘working spirits’ (Hebrews 1:14). Although angels possess superhuman intelligence, they are not omniscient (Matthew 24:36), and although stronger than humans, they are not omnipotent (Psalm 103:20; 2 Thessalonians 1:7).
Dear saint! The life of a saint is a pilgrim's journey. Because the saints long for their hometown, they live on earth like ‘foreigners and strangers’ (Hebrews 11:13). However, this attitude does not mean an escapist life. We are citizens of heaven who faithfully carry out our responsibilities as citizens of a country. Therefore, let us live more faithfully and boldly in the Lord who is our refuge. -Amen-
Our Lord Jesus Christ! I want to rest in the shadow of the Lord (Psalm 121:5).
