Title: The Lord Who Holds My Right Hand
The text statement is a poem by one of David's movements. He was worried about the prosperity of the wicked (verses 1-6), and he received a solution at the Church of God (verse 17). It is a confession of faith and a meaningful confession.
1. The reason for holding on to us (verse 23)
“I am always with you; take my right hand…” Raising your hand signifies victory (Ex 17:11~13). (Matthew 14:31) The poet confessed in verse 22, “You are foolish and ignorant, that you are a beast before you” after receiving enlightenment in the temple (verse 17). . “Luk 18:1, Pray always, Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Holy Spirit continually, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.” Because of this, we become the overcomers of faith (Acts 2:38). When God comes to visit, those we meet at church will be satisfied with God's mercy.
2. The result of holding on (verses 24-28)
(1) Guidance to the end 24~25 “Verse 24, guide me with your precepts, and then to glory...” The truth of the Bible is not the story of people living in the world, but God's teaching that saves lives. Because this truth is alive, it has movement (Hebrews 4:12), it is eternal (1 Peter 1:25), it does not change (Galatians 1:7, James 1:17), and it will surely come to pass (Luke 1:45). The Lord guides us to the unchanging truth and ultimately welcomes us to the glory of the endless kingdom of heaven where God exists. We should give thanks for blessing us with the reception of glory, like Enoch's ascension (Genesis 5:24). .
Verse 25, “Whoever is in heaven but the Lord, … on earth, who I long for but the Lord…” Those whose right hand is held by the Lord look up to heaven, and only the Lord is the object of their faith. The only thing to follow is the Lord (Psalm 63:1), and even if there is a moment of disappointment, we only need to look to the Lord (Hebrews 12:2).
(2) Victory of the soul 26~ “My body and my mind are withered, but God is the rock of my heart, an eternal portion...” The wicked have no suffering or calamity that ordinary people face (verse 5), but Asaph Because of the calamity (verse 14), the body and mind became weak in all strength, but everything was weakened, like green onions in the world's language. However, when he entered the sanctuary of God, received grace, and realized the heart of God, he realized that the hope of immortality remained in his soul. Therefore, the object he longs for is God, who is a refuge on which Asaph can rely (Psalm 31:2) and an inheritance that gives eternal life (1 Peter 1:4), so the victory of the soul is to possess the kingdom of heaven. It is a blessing to be glorified. Even if there is prosperity and satisfaction with the material things of this world, we should examine our own souls and praise God for making us the victors of our souls.
(3) Making known blessings 27-28 “For those who are far from you will perish, and whoever turns away from you, you have commanded harlots.” Here, “those who turn away from you” means “those who have departed,” and they are bound to be destroyed, and they cannot but lose the chastity of faith. Those who forsake the world, follow the world, and worship idols are called “harlots”, which means that they will be judged by God and eventually perish. Here, Asaph is a confession of God's comfort after the troubles of "Verse 3, why do the wicked prosper?" are completely resolved. Even if I look back, I can't find any major faults, so it's very difficult, and even if the other person is troubled like Asaph about being flawless even though he makes occasional mistakes, if he receives grace in the temple, he will experience God's mercy and comfort. “Verse 28, it is a blessing for me to draw near to God…and I will proclaim all your deeds.” In contrast to the wicked who shun God and pursue only prosperity in the world, and then perish (Luke 12:20-21), from sin The life of leaving and living in holiness as a blessing and relying solely on God to receive blessings is the work of knowing that God is the work of salvation and preaching.
[Concluding remarks] There is no reason to complain about people who look good and cause discord among neighbors because they violate the conscience of faith. Like Asaph here, even if you are troubled and resentful because of them, God will “hold your right hand” if you are satisfied with the eternal inheritance of the next life rather than this life through the church life.
